Author JK Rowling recently made a few comments on Twitter that many believe are anti-trans, and people have been speaking out in protest. From what I've seen, it's a combination of anger and hurt.
There's some interesting back story about Graf, and then there's an interview where he talks about Rowling.
When asked about whether or not Rowling's anti-trans comments will hurt her or her brand, his reply is spot on.
However, it is unlikely that our hurt will be felt outside of the LGBTQ sphere. Unfortunately it seems that JK and the Harry Potter franchise have a level of popularity that makes them beyond reproach.
I agree with him, and Rowling knows it. But I'll never read another book she writes.
Here's the rest.
Zambia: Ambassador Daniel Foote Loses Job For Supporting Gay Rights
I posted about Ambassador Daniel Foote a short time ago when he commented about the horrible way gay people are treated in Zambia. So this is really more like an unexpected follow up.
The ambassador, Daniel L. Foote had, described the treatment of the gay couple as “horrifying” — setting off outrage in Zambia, a conservative Christian country.
And Zambia's president wanted him gone, and the US will withdraw him.
You can read it all, here. It's a good, in-depth, story with more facts and realities LGBTQ people face in other places.
