Gay Couple Humiliated In Restaurant; VAT and HIV; Power Bottom Appreciation Day

Gay Couple Humiliated

During an anniversary dinner, a gay couple was shown the door in a Dublin restaurant because other customers didn't like the way they were holding hands. One customer referred to them as "disgusting."

“My partner and I were in a Dublin city centre restaurant celebrating our second anniversary and we were being physically tactile with each other. Not kissing the faces of each other or anything, but holding hands and looking into each other’s eyes.”
“A waiter came to out table and told us that customers at another table were complaining about us. He suggested that we stop showing each other physical affection.”
It only devolved from there. Here's the rest.

It still happens, and not just in Dublin. Tony and I pick and choose our everything else we do...with care to avoid things like this happening. I'd rather be on the offensive than the defensive at all times. It's a way of life.

This is interesting. I'd never heard about it before this article...

VAT (visceral adipose tissue) is a type of hard fat that can affect people with HIV, surrounding the organs and making it difficult for people to do things like bending over to tie their shoes. Many people don’t know that VAT is different from regular fat. When you think about stomach fat, you normally think about the doughy fat around your midsection that usually can be addressed by a healthy diet and exercise. But VAT doesn’t work that way. It can be challenging to reduce VAT with exercise and healthy living alone.

You can read more about it here. There's also a web site link for VAT.

Power Bottom Appreciation Day

I didn't know this either, which is obviously why I missed posting about all last week. So you'll have to mark the calendar for next year. But it's actually a part of gay culture...according to wiki...I'd never heard mentioned before.

Halloween might be considered the national gay holiday, but you should treat your bottom to a fancy dinner tonight because October 30 is Power Bottom Appreciation Day.

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, which is always right about absolutely everything, Power Bottom Appreciation Day first originated in the 1980s by “snickering gay men at cocaine-fueled Pampered Chef parties.”

Here's the rest of the article.

There's also a list of other LGBT+ holidays.

Wil Wheaton and HuffPost; "Heteroflexible" Boy George Sleeping With Prince?

Wil Wheaton and HuffPost

To be honest I'm not totally sure who Wil Wheaton is but he has a lot of followers on Twitter and he wrote an eloquent blog post about writers not getting paid for content contributed to HuffPost...and publications like them. HuffPost isn't the only one. These publications claim you'll get "exposure" in exchange for your written works.

I absolutely agree with everything in Wheaton's post, and I think I've even posted about this topic a while back.

I'm not talking about sharing a blog post or something you've written for smaller web sites or personal bloggers. If your good author friend has a small blog and you decide to write a blog post for them without getting paid I think that's excellent. That's called support. My blog is not for profit and I've had guest posts here (but not often) and I didn't pay the authors either. I've also contributed to small blogs for free and I have no regrets.

But I think there's a huge difference between contributing your written content for free to a small not for profit blogger as opposed to any huge multi-million dollar publication that can afford to pay you.

I'm not copying and pasting Wheaton's content, but you can read the entire post here. The main point for me is that writers deserve to get paid for their hard work and their contributions. If you choose to do otherwise, that's up to you.

It seems as if there's a new PC term almost daily for yet another group that's a little different. This time it's "heteroflexible." In my own lame attempt to define it, I think it's about a straight guy with a girlfriend who wants to bring other men into their bedroom for sex...once in a while and only when he's in the mood. But please don't quote me on that. I know and understand as much about this as I do asexuals. Which is nothing at all.

This happened after he explained himself to the girlfriend...

She said that she was sorry that her reaction was a little harsh. She explained that she has zero problem with gays/bisexuals but that when it’s with her own partner it feels different. She agreed maybe it is close-minded but she said it’s an instinctive reaction. She said she is honestly not 100% comfortable with the idea, but that realistically it isn’t that big of a deal. She said she doesn’t truly understand the whole “it’s more about dick than being attracted to men” thing, but that she understands human sexuality is complex and believes me.

I don't even know how to comment on this one. You can read the rest here. I do know for certain that as a gay man I wouldn't be going near their bedroom any time soon.  And I have zero problems with women/straights but it's just not something that turns me on.

You'll want to read the comments, trust me.

Boy George Sleeping With Prince?

This one is just too easy. The jokes could write themselves.

During the taping of some TV reality show, Boy George claimed he slept with Prince.

George boasted, “I have duetted with some of the greatest soul singers in history including Luther Vandross and Smokey Robinson,” prompting Paloma Faith to come back with, “Well OK, if we’re throwing big soul names out there I’ve performed with Prince.”

“Forget that, darling,” George quickly retorted. “I’ve slept with Prince.”

As it turns out, this is all clickbait. Boy George was joking around and talking about a poster of Prince in his bedroom. He didn't actually sleep with Prince in a literal sense. So you can all take that proverbial sigh of relief now...especially Prince.

I could ask why do people do these things, but then I could also ask why do people watch reality TV shows.

The rest is here.

Ben Carson and Homophobia; Sir John Gielgud's Erotic Gay Screenplay; Gus Kenworthy and Homophobic Troll

Ben Carson and Homophobia

There are two things about this entire topic that bother me.

One, the fact that Ben Carson is NOT coming from a place of privilege, and two, the fact that there was no one moderating the Republican  debate on CNBC that represented the LGBT community.

Ben Carson may believe he's coming from a place of privilege because he's straight, he's a male, and he's a medical doctor who has held important positions. But he's not. And when I hear other minorities slam the LGBT community (or any other minorities) like he slammed us the other night I think it's important to point that out. You can't claim you're not a homophobic if you don't support the basic equal right for gays to legally marry. It wasn't too long ago when mixed race marriages weren't legal on a federal level.

If CNBC had thought it was important enough, which obviously they didn't, they would have had someone from the LGBT community moderating questions that were related to LGBT issues. The moderators challenged other replies, but not Ben Carson's on gay marriage.

With that said, here's an article about Ben Carson I thought was one of the more interesting...

Rather than address the fact that opposing same-sex marriage is basically the opposite of believing the Constitution protects same-sex couples, Carson went on the defensive. “They shouldn’t automatically assume that because you believe that marriage is between one man and one woman that you are a homophobe,” he implored. “This is one of the myths that the left perpetrates on our society and this is how they frighten people and get people to shut up. That’s what the P.C. culture is all about and it’s destroying this nation.”

I think this was Ben Carson's own personal I can see Alaska from my window moment. And that's a metaphor. I know Palin didn't actually say that. But she's said plenty.

You can read the rest here.

Sir John Gielgud's Erotic Gay Screeplay

They're calling this screenplay porn, but I've seen the media twist that too many times...not to mention the clickbait appeal with headlines. I sounds more like erotica to me because I can't imagine Gielgud writing a screenplay without a story line.  And that's usually the difference between erotica and porn...the story line. However, if it is porn I'm still as interested as ever.

Gielgud evidently wrote a screenplay in the 1970's and it was kept a secret for a long time. A guy named David McGillivray has adapted the screenplay into a short film, which is causing some commotion with Gielgud's charitable trust.

“Earlier this year, the trustees decided not give their permission for it to be produced because they didn’t think it was appropriate,” trust member Ian Bradshaw told the Daily Mail. “They didn’t have to go into detail because they own the copyright.”

The film has entered the editing stage, and McGillivray staunchly defends his decision.

“Pornography is still a stigma in this country, but Sir John loved porn and, in his letters, he talks about visiting gay cinemas,” he says. “I was shocked when the trust didn’t give me permission. We stuck to Sir John’s script very tightly when we made the film a couple of weeks ago. He was very specific about the clothes he wanted the actors to wear.”

You can read more here. I'd love to see it just to actually see if it is really porn. In 1979 Gielgud worked in the film Caligula and they are referring to that film as porn, too. That could be debated by people who know better.

Gus Kenworthy and Homophobic Troll

I follow Kenworthy on Twitter and I missed this one. I hate the way Twitter picks and chooses what I Facebook does. I want to see it all, not just what they choose for me. I would like to have seen how Kenworthy handled a homophobic troll so well when it first happened. Seriously. I'm on Twitter several times a day and I have to find out about this while I'm writing a blog post?

Some idiot asked Kenworthy if he was the man or woman in the relationship. It's the age old idiotic question we've all been dealing with since the beginning of time.

Kenworthy's  reply went like this:

In a relationship I am the man. As is the other man. I'm gay. Not trying to emulate a heterosexual relationship.

It really doesn't get much better than that. You can check this out here.

20 Famous Huge Penises; Will A Large Penis Make You Happy? Does Penis Size Matter?

20 Famous Huge Penises

Every now and then I like to focus on the male penis. And in a productive way, not provocative or erotic. With that said, I've been reading comments for years about how an extra large penis is somehow cliche in books with erotic content and that's always passed me by. I don't, however, usually get into detailed penis description in my books unless I'm having a go at satire or humor...I tried that once with burping a big penis and the asexual crowd is still harping on it. I try to keep the penis descriptions plain and simple, without having to resort to clinical terms. For me nothing is more of a turn-off than reading an erotic romance that talks about a "flange." Or even "corona."

I'll leave it at that because this next article is interesting in the sense that it discusses extra large penises. You don't hear about that often, or at least not often enough, as far as many people are concerned.

Here's one that might surprise you.

 2.) Liam Neeson
In her autobiography No Lifeguard on Duty, Janice Dickinson wrote of her ex-boyfriend Liam Neeson, saying he had "the biggest penis of any man alive. He unzipped his pants and an Evian bottle fell out."

This one I knew from pop culture. They used to call him "Johnny Wad" in the porn industry and I'm not sure if I ever posted anything about him before.

4.) John Holmes
Even though he had one of the most celebrated dicks in porn history, due to its size, there's no real documentation of his measurement. His manager claimed he was 13.5 inches, but Holmes' first wife said he measured it in front of her, before he started doing adult films, and it was 10 inches

You can check out the rest of them here. There are 18 more.

Will A Large Penis Make You Happy?

This isn't about getting a large penis. This is about when you have a large penis does it make you happier than other men. The guy in this article seems to think so. He was at rock bottom at one time in his life and his big penis kept him going.

"Are you kidding me?" says Josh (who's 33 now and has started over as a physical therapist). "That's basically my philosophy on life! Whenever it gets bad, I'm like, 'Hey, I got the one good thing!' My ex-girlfriend called it BDS—Big Dick Syndrome. It was hard to even have an argument, because I'd just be like, 'Whatever.' It's an ego thing. Because when it comes down to men, I mean, really, what else is there?"

Of course psychologists disagree and they think it's more about what you do with your size than anything.  One of the biggest ironies of my life was when I once met a gorgeous guy with a HUGE penis and he told me he wanted to be a trans woman. You can only imagine how ironic this was for him.

In any event, here's the rest of the article. I think it depends on the person.

Does Penis Size Matter?

Of course most conversations about the penis usually wind up with someone asking...Does penis size matter? This next article discusses the topic candidly in a way you don't see very often. It's geared toward women but I think it could also apply to gay men. In this regard I think both gay men and women do share a few things in common. And, from what I've seen and heard penis size doesn't really matter that much to most. Of course they all could be lying because they think that's the right PC thing to say...which it is.

This talks about a dating web site where penis size is one of the most important things...again, candidly. No one seems to be holding anything back to look good on social media.

Website founder Steven Pasternack filled us in on what triggered him to launch it.

He said: ‘I had the idea talking to a few female friends who were complaining about investing time with guys who then turned out to have small penises.

‘They all said they wished there was a site which listed penis size like it did hair colour and height.’

Launched in 2008 and now with approximately 40,000 members, 7OrBetter is increasingly popular with both the straight and gay community – perhaps highlighting the growing trend for internet daters to want to know everything about their potential dates before they meet.

Of course for most dating sites where gay men go this isn't something new. I've seen enough of them in my time to know that penis size is something that matters to some/many gay men mainly because so many post the size of their penis. It stands to reason. In fact, I'm kind of surprised that hetero dating sites don't mention penis size...up until now. But I don't know anything about hetero dating sites and that's the impression I'm getting from this article.

You can read the rest here. And, to put a small spin on all this, pardon the bad pun, I've also known gay men who actually go out and seek partners with the smallest penises imaginable. Go figure.

So it really us up to the individual. I never made any penis size a top priority when I was single, sorry for that bad pun, too. And I'm really not lying about that (smile).

Carrot Top and Daniel Tosh Showering...Meh; Poofter Drinks Gets Slammed on Facebook; Financial Issues

Carrot Top and Daniel Tosh Showering...Meh;

Other than the fact that it took this to get Carrot Top a headline, I don't get the big deal with this one, but I did find it interesting in a small way because Tony once sat across from Carrot Top on a business flight to the mid-west somewhere. They didn't interact.

Daniel Tosh rolls around on a sofa looking pretty dressed only in a sexy negligee and slinks about in nothing but a revealing wet T-shirt, but that’s hardly the most surprising element in his parody video for “Good For You” ft. A$AP Rocky by Selena Gomez. The Comedy Central personality, who is forever pushing the queer envelope with his series Tosh.0, takes a shower with entertainer comic red-headed person Carrot Top. We wouldn’t want to unclog that drain.

You can check out the video here. Maybe you'll get it better than I did.

Poofter Drinks Gets Slammed on Facebook

Here's a story about a bar in Australia that had a homophobic slur on a sign and they got seriously slammed on Facebook for it.

For seven years, Handsome Steve’s House of Refreshment in Melbourne had a sign that read ‘No soy, no skinny, no tea… no poofter drinks’ below their drink menu.

What was even moderately socially acceptable in 2008 is clearly not in 2015, so a group of angry customers confronted owner Steve Miller, who refused to remove the sign.

Evidently, the sign had been there for years and no one said a word. For those who might not know, "poofter" is a homophobic slang reference for gay.

It's happening slowly, but I guess things are changing.

The rest is here. Financial Issues

If you recall, I posted about a raid that was made at the NYC headquarters for not too long ago. Now they're selling off things like office furniture and other office content on Craigslist to help pay the legal expenses.

When I posted the link in August most people I know were slightly outraged that the raid even happened.

In August, the company’s Manhattan headquarters were raided by the FBI and NYPD. CEO Jeffrey Hurant and six others were arrested on suspicion of promoting interstate prostitution and money laundering. The company’s bank accounts containing millions of dollars were frozen and its website was seized by Homeland Security.

Yes, that's what Homeland security is doing these days.

I don't know why they didn't do a crowdfunding campaign like that questionable romance blogger/secret author who got sued for defamation...and just settled out of court. Even though she and her husband make over six figures a year combined income (it's all public), she raked in over 60Gs through crowdfunding last I heard for her legal defense from hard working people who felt sorry for her...because why should she take responsibility for her own actions on her own blog. You can't make these things up sometimes.

In any event, you can read the rest here. It's actually kind of sad and scary at the same time. There's a link in the article to the ad where they are selling the contents.

James Bond Can't Be Gay: Roger Moore; Bernie Sanders on Hillary Clinton and Gay Rights; Gay Activists Call Hillary Clinton Out

James Bond Can't Be Gay: Roger Moore

According to Roger Moore, James Bond can't be gay or a woman because that's not the way Ian Fleming wrote the character.

"I have heard people talk about how there should be a lady Bond or a gay Bond, but they wouldn’t be Bond for the simple reason that wasn’t what Ian Fleming wrote," said Moore, who played Bond in seven films.

"It is not about being homophobic or, for that matter, racist – it is simply about being true to the character," he told the Mail.

I think I feel a gay James Bond movie tie-in parody coming on. Why not? I don't care what Roger Moore thinks. Instead of Bond getting the girl he would get the guy...or guys.

I would title mine something like "James Bend." It wouldn't be fanfic either. It would be strictly parody...for those of you who don't understand what I'm talking about.

This statement by Roger Moore is one reason why I wrote a few gay parodies of straight movies (An Officer and HIS Gentleman). I took a lot of slams for that and in some cases still do, but I have no regrets whatsoever.

You can read the rest here.

Bernie Sanders on Hillary Clinton and Gay Rights

When I post this way I'm not trying to be political and I never/rarely add my own opinions. However, I have heard this very same discussion on Hillary Clinton and gay rights at several small parties over the past six months and I thought it was newsworthy. Most gay people I know remember Hillary and how she stood on gay rights...or rather, didn't stand.

In any event, I honestly don't have a clue who I'm going to this point. And Bernie Sanders is now calling Clinton out on her past stand on gay rights.

"In 1996, I faced another fork in the road. A very, very difficult political situation. It was called the Defense of Marriage Act. DOMA," he said, referring to the law signed by President Clinton. "And let us all remember that gay and lesbian rights were not popular then, as they are today. It was a tough vote. ... That was not a politically easy vote.

"Now today, some are trying to rewrite history by saying that they voted for one anti-gay law to stop something worse," he said. "That is not the case. There was a small minority in the house opposed to discriminating against our gay brothers and sisters and I am proud that I was one of those members."

Now I do applaud Sanders for his vote. I was very young but I remember DOMA very well. But I don't feel the urge to thank him. Again, these are rights we should have had all along.

Hillary Clinton did not come out in favor of gay rights until she saw that she didn't have any other choice and that it would suit her political agenda. And someone should tell her we know and we discuss it all the time. The appropriate response from her would be an apology, not an excuse.

Gay Activists Call Hillary Clinton Out

...for defending DOMA, which happened during her husband's administration.

“On Defense of Marriage, I think what my husband believed — and there was certainly evidence to support it — is that there was enough political momentum to amend the Constitution of the United States of America, and that there had to be some way to stop that,” Clinton told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

But those who were familiar with deliberations in the Clinton White House say that that’s not what happened. Clinton’s presidential papers also show no evidence that fear of a constitutional amendment factored into support for the bill. Instead, Clinton signed DOMA when it landed on his desk — it passed both houses of Congress with ease — because it was politically convenient and because he was publicly opposed to gay marriage.
You can read the rest here.

I think in a general sense this shows how gays were treated and thought of in the 1990's. I remember how horrible I felt when I heard about DOMA. In the same respect, it was a feeling I'd already gotten very used to as well.

This is what President Clinton stated...for those of you who might not know or have forgotten:

Statement by President Bill Clinton
On Friday, September 20, prior to signing the Defense of Marriage Act, President Clinton released the following statement:

Throughout my life I have strenuously opposed discrimination of any kind, including discrimination against gay and lesbian Americans. I am signing into law H.R. 3396, a bill relating to same-gender marriage, but it is important to note what this legislation does and does not do.

I have long opposed governmental recognition of same-gender marriages and this legislation is consistent with that position. The Act confirms the right of each state to determine its own policy with respect to same gender marriage and clarifies for purposes of federal law the operative meaning of the terms "marriage" and "spouse".

This legislation does not reach beyond those two provisions. It has no effect on any current federal, state or local anti-discrimination law and does not constrain the right of Congress or any state or locality to enact anti-discrimination laws. I therefore would take this opportunity to urge Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, an act which would extend employment discrimination protections to gays and lesbians in the workplace. This year the Senate considered this legislation contemporaneously with the Act I sign today and failed to pass it by a single vote. I hope that in its next Session Congress will pass it expeditiously.

I also want to make clear to all that the enactment of this legislation should not, despite the fierce and at times divisive rhetoric surrounding it, be understood to provide an excuse for discrimination, violence or intimidation against any person on the basis of sexual orientation. Discrimination, violence and intimidation for that reason, as well as others, violate the principle of equal protection under the law and have no place in American society.

Dear Author Ellora's Cave Settlement; Guys Who Struggle With Coming Out; Vincent Price Bi-Sexual

Dear Author Ellora's Cave Settlement

About a year ago I posted about a lawsuit between romance publisher, Ellora's Cave, and small time mid-western romance book blogger, Jane Litte. I know most of you probably won't care, but I like to follow up for my own sense of blog continuity.

Ellora's Cave (the publisher) sued Jane Litte (the small blogger) for defamation . Last week there was an announcement they'd settled.

This e-mail from Ellora's Cave has been making the rounds:

From: [ec_biz]
Date: Thu, Oct 22, 2015 at 9:50 AM
Subject: [ec_biz] Settlement with Dear Author

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement with Dear Author. The terms are confidential, so we will not be discussing that. We are very happy though to now put all of our time and efforts into Ellora’s Cave, the authors and staff without further distraction.
Thank you for your patience and support.
Patty Marks

With cases like this, very few ever know the terms of the settlement reached. I didn't see a statement anywhere from the Dear Author camp...yet.

There's really nothing to link to that doesn't have strong bias (I don't like to waste my time or yours on opinions and speculation by amateurs), so as they say, that's a wrap for this one.

However, for those of you who aren't sure what settlement means in defamation cases like this, here's a link to a broad explanation I found with a simple search.

And, unrelated to the DA/EC case, this particular article about defamation law and free speech is helpful with respect to understanding how the process works. I would advise all bloggers to check this, and others like it, out.

Guys Who Struggle With Coming Out

This is really something that's always been a serious issue. Some gay men are so "out" it's not even possible for them to try to hide it. You can tell by the way they walk, or move their hands, or speak. If that's a stereotype on my part, consider me guilty and call the PC police. It's also a fact.

However, with most gay men that's not the case and they struggle with coming out. In some cases, for many years. I think that's what bothers me the most when I see glib so-called liberal straight people in book communities (not all) discussing gay men (they say we have so many options)...because in reality they don't really know a thing about gay men, other than the twisted content they've read in novels written by non-gay people. And someone should tell them.

So here's another set of memes where gay men make some very sad comments about being gay.

"I probably hate being gay more than the people who hate me for being gay."

I think most gay men go through this, and most come out of it. But not all, and that's where we need to work a little harder to show them there is hope.

You can check all the memes out here.

Don't be too surprised by them.

Vincent Price Bi-Sexual

It's funny because I get this magazine in the mail called Reminisce. It was a gift from someone and the content is filled with retro articles that can range from old cars from the 1920's to Halloween costumes of the 1970's. In the most recent issue about Halloween, I spotted a photo of Vincent Price with two people from the 1970's taking a photo in an airport, and in the caption I spotted a familiar name in the m/m romance community. As it turns out, the woman in the photo wasn't the same one in the m/m romance community (I asked her), however, I'd always wondered if Vincent Price was gay...or bi-sexual...and if he was another Hollywood causality of his time.

Vincent Price's daughter recently wrote a book and she gets into this topic very candidly. A quote from his daughter...

“But I would like to say something here because I might as well,” she continued. “I am as close to certain as I can be that my dad had physically intimate relationships with men. I know for 100 percent fact that my dad was completely loving and supportive of LGBT people.”

You can read the rest here. The book looks very good and she writes very well.

There are comments, too. The ONLY comments that bother me with pieces like this are the ones that say things like "it doesn't matter," or "who cares," or even "sexuality is a non-issue." That's a difficult one for me because in my personal life I really don't care if someone is gay or straight, however, people who make statements like that don't "get" the broad scope...even if they have the best of intentions.

They don't seem to understand that being gay isn't just about sexuality. But most of all, there should be no shame associated with being gay (or LGBT+) and no reason to hide it, ever, from anyone. Not even if you were Vincent Price. So please don't tell me it's a non-issue and it doesn't matter. In some cases it does matter. If Edie Windsor had thought being gay was a non-issue we might not have legalized gay marriage. Saying it doesn't matter is an insult to all gay people everywhere.

His Gay Uncle; Varla Jean Merman Without Drag: YouTuber Recieves Hate

His Gay Uncle

I've posted before about how I didn't know my brother was gay until we accidentally ran into each other in a gay bar in New York one night. I've also posted about one of my nephews coming out to me through a Facebook PM a couple of years ago, which left me a little speechless at the time. He's in med school; he dated women. I was shocked. I think most gay people out there can relate to this...having other gay family members and being a little surprised to find out about it.

But this one is a little unique.

Having a gay relative has got to be every young gay guy’s dream, although I had no clue that I had gay uncle that has been living in San Francisco since 1988. Which is a bummer; I can only imagine how great it would have been to know that I had a queer uncle in the gayest city in the world.

Complicated family dynamics prevented me from even knowing of his existence until five years ago, and this New Yorker wasn’t able to make the cross-country trek to meet him… until now.

The rest is here.

Of course my mom claimed she knew about my nephew all along before he told anyone. She said mothers always know. So there's that.

Varla Jean Merman Without Drag

Admittedly, I don't know much about drag culture. Anything drag related is as foreign to me as gay men are to some straight men out there. But I have heard of Varla Jean Merman. I think we saw her in P'town one summer...but only in drag.

And here's an article about her without drag.

The sassy drag performer — who starred in 2003’s Girls Will Be Girls, the off-Broadway musical Lucky Guy, and, very briefly, as “Rosemary Chicken” on the soap opera All My Children — turns out to be one super-hot daddy underneath all those bangles, beads, pancake, and taffeta.

They aren't joking either. He's not bad at all.

You can read the rest here.

YouTuber Receives Hate

I wasn't sure how to headline this one because I think a lot of us get annoyed sometimes by these Vine and YouTube people. Just in a general sense, not in a specific sense. In the same respect, I do find it interesting that they even get this kind of attention at all. Evidently, they're doing something right because people are following them.

Earlier this month, YouTuber Jack Merridew posted a video in which he showed off his slutty barely-there Halloween costume possibilities and asked his mom for advice. Some people were amused, a few were probably turned on, but a whole lot of people (including some of you reading this now) tore into the young vlogger, berating him for being too thin and for…wait for it… perpetuating negative gay stereotypes. Well, Jack heard you and has posted a video response.

“All the hate on this Halloween costume video came from gay men, and it was weird,” Merridew said. “Come on, gay men. We’re supposed to be brothers. We’re a big fucking family. And you can’t choose your family, so I’m that brother that you want to get rid of, but you know what? You’re fucking stuck with me.”

I didn't see it. And even if I had I rarely comment on things like this because I understand there is a great deal of diversity within the gay community, especially with gay men. And frankly, I think the gay men who were never as flamboyant as those who were flamboyant, are now finding their own voices and they are speaking up, too. Their frustration is coming out like "hate." It often sounds aggressive and way too blunt. However, one of the things I hear most from gay men who would never post a video like Merridew's is that they are tired of the world thinking all gay men are this way. Unfortunately, again, it comes out as hate.

You can watch the video here. As you can see from the comments with this article, they vary greatly and there are several interesting opinions.

Even though I do "get" why some gay men would find Merridew irritating, annoying, and a bad stereotype, I always side with tolerance and we really do need to think a lot more about that. He's just a kid. A smart kid. But still a kid.

Gus Kenworthy On Instagram; Gay Pornster Cliff Jensen Allegedly Beaten; Sir Ian McKellen On Closeted Actors

Gus Kenworthy On Instagram
Sorry if I'm posting too soon again about Gus Kenworthy, but I think it's a pop cultural sense. It seems Miley Cyrus is one of his fans, plus there are instagram pics you might want to check out.

No. You'll want to check them out.

Yesterday, Olympic freeskiing champion Gus Kenworthy revealed he is gay to the delight of LGBTQ activists and sports fans alike. But perhaps nobody was more excited by the news than Miley Cyrus.

And again, what a nice guy, too!!

You can see the photos here.

Gay Pornster Cliff Jensen Allegedly Beaten

I never heard of him least not by name. I watch porn sometimes just like most people, but I'm not that I know them by name type of porn person. That takes too much dedication.

According to the operator of Cliff Jensen’s Twitter feed, the gay porn performer was brutally attacked while being held in a Florida prison.

Initially the outlook was grim, though an update today revealed that he is expected to recover.

The rest is here, with a photo of him. I think there's more coming with this one.

Sir Ian McKellen On Closeted Actors

This is what he said...

It all happened after coming out. I had no idea this silly thing was a weight on my shoulders. That’s my message to anyone in this town who thinks ‘I’ve got to stay in the closet to be successful in films.’ I didn’t. Do you want to be a famous movie star who has love scenes with ladies and in private be an unhappy gay? There’s no choice. Forget the career, dear. Go and do something else … A closet’s a really nasty place to live, you know? It’s dirty, it’s dusty, it’s full of skeletons. You don’t want it. Open that door — fling it wide and be yourself.”

I love Ian McKellen and everything he's ever done. I keep "Vicious" on my DVR at all times so I can watch whenever I want. But I disagree with him on this one. In theory I do agree. It's always better to come out. However, it's not always realistic for every closeted man to do that. And the world still is homophobic.

Coming out is different experience for all LGBT people and I think that should be up to them, not up to peer pressure within the gay community.

Fangsters: Book 2

Gang Bang Fangsters

Fangsters Book 2: Gang Bang Fangsters; Gus Kenworthy Is Gay; Surviving Horrific Gay Exorcism

Fangsters Book 2: Gang Bang Fangsters

Here's a new release in the Fangsters series I started working on with the publisher, Riverdale Ave. Books, when they first launched. It's LGBT+ vampire erotic romance and has 70,000 words.

As you can see from the subtitle, there will be sex in the book.

Gay sex.

And plenty of it.

Rough and dirty sometimes...NSFW. Real sex with real men.

With no apologies.

I didn't hold back with this one. Just as I removed the sex scenes from Meadows Are Not Forever because sex scenes didn't work in that book, I added more than a few sex scenes to this Fangsters book because I thought they worked in the book and with the story line.

I'll post links below as they come in, and here's the blurb.

Fangsters - Gang Bang Fangsters (Fangsters) by Ryan Field - Romance>Erotic Romance
In this riveting sequel to Fangsters: Clan of the Jersey Boys, Anton and Digger find themselves in a dangerous situation. After they turn their beloved Leo in haste, his transition doesn't go as planned and he's left with an intense side effect. Leo can't get enough passion, sex, or men. He's an over-sexed gay vampire so completely out of control they consider locking him up in a chained coffin for eternity.

While Anton and Digger search for a solution to Leo's problem, they continue to pursue a peaceful arrangement with the vampire clan in Atlantic City that once tried to kill them. The goal is to avoid a war between the two New Jersey clans, and with the help of a brand new character named Kane who steals Anton's heart the instant he meets him, their goal is to accomplish a temporary agreement.

However, in spite of gay orgies and gang bangs, there doesn't seem to be any hope for hypersexual Leo. And when this new character offers them a choice that could change all of them forever, even Digger can't resist the delicious temptation. Will the threats they face as vampires ruin their chances for a happy ending? But more important, will Anton find the emotional strength to do the right thing for his lovers and his clan?

Here's a link for Allromanceebooks...

Here's the Amazon link...

And this is at the publisher's web site...

Gus Kenworthy Is Gay

I honestly didn't know who Gus Kenworthy was until last night, but he's making headlines because he recently came out as gay. And he seems like a really nice guy.

Gus Kenworthy, an Olympic freeskiing champion who garnered worldwide attention when he helped find homes for five stray dogs while competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, reveals in a new ESPN magazine profile that he’s gay.

“I never got to be proud of what I did in Sochi because I felt so horrible about what I didn’t do,” Gus told the magazine. “I didn’t want to come out as the silver medalist from Sochi. I wanted to come out as the best freeskier in the world.”

If you read between the lines it doesn't sound as if he's had an easy time of it. And I think everything he says is something all gay men think and feel in their own lives before they come out.

And, he's adorable and a hero, too. He could be a character in Fangsters Book 2

You can check this out here, with photos.

Surviving Horrific Gay Exorcism

Here's a story I've been following all week. It's about gay exorcism, and how this guy survived it.

“It’s not like The Exorcist,” Sanders said. “It’s not like what you see on TV, but a very intense time of prayer, holy water, a dark room with candles.”

“It’s traumatic,” he continued. “For me, I experienced religious trauma syndrome … it’s similar to PTSD, so there’s triggers that I would have.”

There's a gay movie on Netflix I just saw, and posted about, titled Blackbird. I highly recommend seeing this because there is a gay exorcism in the film. It's painful to watch.

In any event, you can read the rest here. This really is one of the most horrific things that can ever be done to a gay person.

London Gay Couple Denied Adoption; More James Franco and King Cobra; Pornster Pays Big For Photo With Hillary

London Gay Couple Denied Adoption

This is weird because the reason this gay couple was allegedly denied adoption is because they didn't have any toys in the house...among other things as ridiculous. Here's a list:

  • They were asked who would take on the ‘role of the mother’.
  • They were told they had been rejected as they had no toys in the house, even though they had no kids yet.
  • They were asked how many women they have in the family.
  • Despite being an interracial couple, social workers told them they were not ‘ethnically accepting’ enough.
  • They were also told they didn’t know enough about ‘Romanian or Nigerian culture’, despite they were willing to learn about the background of any child.
You can check this out here. It gets a little more complicated with the response from the adoption agency.

*Who would take on the role of mother*

More James Franco and King Cobra

Here's more about the film, King Cobra, that James Franco is heavily involved with.

The film is based on the 2007 murder of gay adult film producer Bryan Kocis who owned Cobra Video. Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes were trying to lure gay porn star Brent Corrigan away from Kocis and were convicted of killing him.
On Tuesday (20 October), Pretty Little Liars star Keegan Allen tweeted from the set a shirtless photo of himself with a shirtless Franco. He will play Cuadra. It’s not clear what, if any, on-screen role Franco has in the film.
No comment. You can read more here. There's also a shirtless photo of Franco and someone else. It is interesting that no one else has commented yet either.

Pornster Pays Big For Photo With Hillary

I didn't know people could pay to have their photo taken with Hillary Clinton. I guess there's no end to what it takes to raise money for a Clinton.

That fan was Gavin Waters, a gay porn star known for his scenes with Colt and Falcon.
According to TMZ, he reportedly paid $1,000 to have a picture with Hillary at a recent fundraiser in Texas.
While some anti-Hillary supporters have attempted to use the picture as a way of attacking her, claiming she will have a photo with ‘anyone’ who’s giving her money (seriously, every politician would do the exact same thing).
Would they? Maybe they would. I don't know.   You can check this out here.
As you can see, Hillary has "evolved" since the days of not too long ago when she wasn't supporting gay people.

Amazon Sues Reviewers; Daniel Murphy and Homophobic Past; Russell Tovey's Big Penis Reveal

Amazon Sues Reviewers

I really hate linking to things like this because they show those network news people talking down to us even though we already least many of us know...that fake reviews happen everywhere online, not just on Amazon. You never have to wonder why television is a dying medium.

But I digress...

Amazon has sued more than 1,000 people who offered to write fake reviews for a price.

The lawsuit, filed Friday, targets users of, an online marketplace where you can take on "gigs" such as designing a logo or writing a press release for $5.

Amazon found that people were offering to write positive reviews of products they had never used, most often with text supplied by the seller.

First, I hate fake reviews and if Amazon is going after fakes, good for them.

However, I'm on the fence about paying for legitimate reviews. Many seem to get this mixed up with paying for fake reviews. If the review is legitimate and the book reviewer is getting paid to write a legitimate review what's so wrong with that?  Kirkus does it all the time. And Kirkus (and other elitists) charges hundreds of dollars to some authors for a paid review. Of course the trade off is that the author might not love the review he or she paid for, but that's a chance that some authors are willing to take.

You can check out the rest of the lawsuit here.

Daniel Murphy and Homophobic Past

Daniel Murphy is a second baseman for the NY Mets. Allegedly, he has a homophobic past that's catching up with him now.

Here's what he said about Billy Bean:

“I disagree with his lifestyle. I do disagree with the fact that Billy is a homosexual. That doesn’t mean I can’t still invest in him and get to know him. I don’t think the fact that someone is a homosexual should completely shut the door on investing in them in a relational aspect. Getting to know him. That, I would say, you can still accept them but I do disagree with the lifestyle, 100 percent.”

The rest is here, with comments. I hate to totally attack the guy because it really doesn't sound like a hate comment. And let's face it, for most straight people who know nothing about the real LGBT+ community they aren't getting the best examples from the mainstream media or entertainment industry. I'm gay and I can't even identify with gays like those two on Modern Family. I can't identify with anything James Franco does...too gay creepy for me.

I think Daniel Murphy has to "evolve" know, the same way her highness Hillary Clinton "evolved."

Russell Tovey's Big Penis Reveal

I always smile when I see things like this because if you follow celebrities like Russell Tovey you'll find that most of them do things like this. It's clickbait at its finest. You can't blame them. It keeps them relevant in a highly competitive industry and if they have it they should flaunt it sometimes. I'm also a fan of Looking and I wish it hadn't been canceled. I actually dropped HBO (and premium channels) after that. I'm not joking. I can watch Netflix (and stream from other places) and get more interesting content. In fact, I wish Netflix would pick Looking up.

In any event...

Look at the photo of Russell Tovey below. Notice anything? No, not his newly-blond hair (is this for the Looking finale?). Nope, not Rocky, his omnipresent and very adorable French bulldog. Keep going down. Look a little lower in the frame. Bingo!

If you really love French bulldogs, you can check out the photo here.

James Franco and Straight People Making Gay Films: King Kobra; Nude Locker Room Life; Guys and Their Relationships to Porn

James Franco and Straight People Making Gay Films: King Kobra

Update: Brent Corrigan commented on the film and gave a few thoughts on Facebook with a public announcement. As usual, he did it well.

I don't know how else to title this part of the post. In this case what I did use is clearly not my best clickbait, however, also in this is what it is.

Gay content/dramatization is big this year and some straight people are taking full advantage of it.

The recently announced Christian Slater/Molly Ringwald film King Cobra, though it also plans to dramatize a piece of gay history, will likely offer no such inspiration.

That’s because it will tell the story of gay porn studio Cobra Video owner Bryan Kocis’ murder by two of his stars, Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes (pictured above right), in 2007. Naturally, James Franco is involved, taking a producing and acting credit.

But there are a few names I haven't heard since God was a proverbial boy... good old Molly Ringwald and Christian Slater.

They have a Disney twink playing the Brent Corrigan part.

Kocis’ involvement and subsequent legal battle with a then-underage Brent Corrigan, aka Sean Lockhart, added an unhealthy dose of scandal to the already-insane story.

You can read the rest here.

I think we'll be hearing more about this and I am curious to know what Brent Corrigan thinks. I follow him on Twitter and he's a very nice, quiet guy who seems to be an avid equestrian. I hope someone interviews him.

Nude Locker Room Life

On a much lighter note, here's a video about how the NFL Network aired a nude locker room scene.

Albert Breer’s NFL Network interview with Adam Jones after the Bengals’ win over Buffalo today was... interesting.

All you really need to know is that the NFL GameDay Live staff couldn’t stop laughing about it afterward. Butts and dicks herein.

I guess if the NFL Network aired this it's SFW. You can check that out here.

Guys and Their Relationships to Porn

I love that Queerty continues to post these meme articles. I think they sum fascinating topics up so well they could be used as exercises in blogging for the more verbose bloggers out there.

This one is about how guys often both embrace and scorn adult entertainment.

Here's one...

I'm gay but I'm really grossed out by gay porn. Does that mean subconsciously I hate myself? Ugh...

Here's another...

As a gay guy I hate that I'm so immune to porn that I have to look for more taboo stuff.

You can read the rest of them here. It's a really good example of how various guys feel about adult entertainment and I would imagine it's basically the same for straight and women.

Male Full Frontal Nudity ll: Michael Pitt and Zack McGowen; The Rainbow Detective Agency by Ryan Field

Here's another post, revisited, from 2012 that I wrote about male full frontal nudity in films. Again, it's one that receives a lot of hits to this day...through searches...and it seems to be a topic of interest to more than a few people out there. However, the main reason I'm posting it is because we're up in Vermont for the weekend, the wifi is questionable at best and I'm posting from an iPad.

The most notable thing about male full frontal nudity in films is that not much has changed in three years. But there are many things in Hollywood that don't seem the change. Last night Tony and I were watching a movie on Netflix and the straight main male character was middle aged, overweight, and not very attractive at all. He was butthurt ugly. And yet they gave him a young, gorgeous female wife. I turned to Tony and said, "Just once I'd like to see Kathy Bates get a hot young husband in a film for a change."

I also think it's interesting how TV watching has changed in only three years. Back then we were still watching cable with all the premium channels. Since then we've dropped them and watch mostly Netflix now...or streaming.

Regular posts will resume tomorrow.

I find it interesting that actor Michael Pitt...who happens to be one of the best actors in Hollywood with or without his clothes...did a full frontal nude scene in a film called "Dreamers" (2003) and he also starred in "Boardwalk Empire" when it first launched. In fact, he was the only reason I bothered to watch BE in the beginning, and then they killed off his character and I'm only hanging on now by a thin thread (which has nothing to do with male full frontal...the storyline's just not keeping my interest).

As far as I know, Michael Pitt did not do any full frontal nudity in BE. Which is slightly disappointing because he did such a great scene in "Dreamers."  You can watch the entire scene here. I often wonder if some actors do certain scenes at the beginning of their careers in order to get recognized, and then never do them again once they are established. Tom Cruise did more than a few scenes without his clothes, so did Brad Pitt. I don't think either one ever did full frontal, but they showed plenty in the beginning and haven't showed anything since then. This tells me that there's no limit to what some people will do for a buck in the beginning, and art has nothing to do with it...and I'm not one to judge nudity in films or TV shows. I actually think nudity, when done well, adds to the artistic reality of certain scenes and there's nothing dirty or obscene about it. Kind of like nude models in drawing 101 freshman year of college. At first it's a little awkward, but after fifteen minutes the nudity isn't an issue anymore. I've been to plenty of nude beaches in my time, and I felt awkward at first about stripping down to nothing. But it didn't take long before it felt perfectly natural.

In any event, another more recent male full frontal nude scene was done in "Shameless," by actor Zack McGowen. In this case, the full frontal nudity did add to the artistic quality of the the scene in which he did it, and that show is so reality oriented I think it's like cheating if there aren't a few nudes scenes. It also added to the popularity of Zack McGowen, which stands to reason because male full frontal is considered so taboo. What he had between his legs was nothing to be ashamed about. You don't see a nice one THAT nice every day of the week, in real life or on TV. Here's a link to photos I can't post here where you can see it in all its glory yourselves.

Boardwalk Empire Male Full Frontal Nudity Revisted; The Rainbow Detective Agency by Ryan Field

Boardwalk Empire Male Full Frontal Nudity

Sometimes I like to revisit a few of the posts I've done over the years. This one dates back to October 2012 and it still receives my surprise. I'm not even that fond it of. At the time, I never took it all that seriously. Evidently it's a topic that must resonate with a lot of people.

From my archives:

We don't often see full frontal male nudity on TV, or even in feature films. And as an erotic romance author with over one hundred published works of fiction, I've always found that interesting. I do think there's a reason for this. I know some might disagree, and some would think this topic isn't important. But it's not something I see discussed often and when I see male full frontal in films and on TV I get curious.
We see breasts, a lot of ass, occasionally vagina, and pelvis shots, but never full frontal penis shots. So is there a double standard? Some might say we objectify women more than men. I think that's true to a certain extent, but I also think there might be another reason. More and more men are being objectified these days, but they still aren't showing everything.

I actually remember a web site a long time ago that was devoted to this very theme. They would follow films and TV shows where there was male full frontal nudity and post about it. It was always sketchy at best, with very little to see. And as I recall, there was a huge "thing" about Colin Farrell's male full frontal scene being removed from A Home at the End of the World because everyone thought it would be too distracting.

But last night on Boardwalk Empire Bobby Cannavale, who plays Gyp Rosetti, bared it all in a kinky sex scene that rivals anything I've seen on TV before with regard to male full frontal nudity. He not only showed penis, he showed it in a scene that lasted more than a split second. As one of my pithier writer friends on facebook would say, "Jebus Crisp, that thing was swinging back and forth."

It even bounced a few times, too.

And that's because it couldn't help itself. Anything that big is NOT going to remain stationary while a man walks naked down a hallway. And Bobby Cannavale was walking slowly. If he'd been running he would have had to hold it down with both hands.

The scene in which he showed all his full frontal began with Bobby having sex with a woman, both naked in a sleazy hotel room, with one end of a belt tied around Bobby's neck and the other tied to the bed post. Actually, that would have been enough for one book reviewer I know to shudder and cross her legs. But that scene led into one of those glorious fake gruesome massacres, with fake guns, plenty of fake blood, and everyone in the scene dying except Bobby Cannavale. When everyone was dead, Cannavale got up and started walking around in a daze, with the belt still tied around his neck and his penis swinging back and forth.

Of course you had to watch closely. I DRV Boardwalk Empire, so I rewound the scene a few times just to be sure I wasn't imagining it. Even though it was a longer full frontal shot than most, you could have missed it if you turned for a moment to get a snack. A few times Cannavale's head blocked the view. But it was there, in a rare moment of male full frontal we never see anywhere in the mainstream.

My theory as to why we rarely ever see male full frontal in films or TV shows is that most male actors are not willing to show what they have because they might be afraid is doesn't measure up to what viewers might expect of them. Would Tom Cruise have become the star he is if we'd seen a full frontal shot of him early in his career and it didn't measure up to what we expected? What about Ben Affleck?

I doubt anyone would throw Bobby Cannavale out of bed if he hadn't been blessed with something that impressive between his legs. He's a seriously good looking guy, in his forties, with a great body, and he's an excellent actor, too. But Cannavale is lucky in this respect. In this department there's a lot of pressure on men with regard to penis size and I'm sure a lot of actors don't want to take that risk. There was a great parody of this subject in a recent film I saw with Owen Wilson where Wilson is intimidated by a guy with a large penis in a locker room scene. And I wouldn't throw Owen Wilson out of bed for anything.

Women in films can get away with more in this regard because there seems to be varied opinions about breast sizes. Some like them big, others like them little and perky. But you rarely hear anyone say, "Wow, I like the smallest penis I can find, especially when it's little and perky." And, at a glance, vagina is vagina. I'm sure some would disagree with me here, but I'm talking about at a glance.

So I doubt we'll be seeing more male frontal nudity in the near future, unless they use stand-ins or some kind of prosthetic. It's just too intimidating for some actors and there's an unspoken bias that seems to linger beneath the surface all the time. We hear all the time that size doesn't matter. I've seen articles and blog posts written about how cliched it is to write male characters in erotic romances with extra large ones. But would people read an erotic novel if the main character had a small penis?

They say size doesn't matter, but I least with respect to male full frontal nudity in films and on TV. I doubt Bobby Cannavale would have opted to do THAT scene if he'd been born with a pinkie finger between his legs.

Rand Paul Workplace Controversy; Tab Hunter Documentary

Rand Paul Controversy

I think by now everyone knows I don't get political here because I know (and understand) the political diversity within the LGBT+ community. A diversity that's not always recognized. I'm also not all that political myself.

However, this has been making the news all week and I thought it was worthy of mention.

But before he goes, Paul is reminding us that his so-called new ideas are really just the usual homophobia. In a rant that Mike Huckabee would be proud of, Paul endorsed the closet in the workplace, supported the right of employers to fire us and basically said if you don’t like it, get another job. “The things you do in your house — if you leave them in your house — they wouldn’t have to be part of the workplace,” Paul insisted.

You can read the rest here.

Tab Hunter Documentary

Here's more regarding the Tab Hunter documentary I've posted about before. He was one of Hollywood's leading men at one time, and also gay and totally in the closet.

In the new documentary Tab Hunter Confidential (adapted from the actor’s 2005 memoir), the still-charismatic 84-year-old candidly shares his fear of being outed during his hey day, his love affair with Anthony Perkins and the incredible story of how he endured to become a happy, healthy survivor of Hollywood’s roller coaster. Produced by Allan Glaser, Hunter’s partner of three decades, the film (in select theaters today) includes a trove of vintage footage of the heartthrob, as well as new interviews with John Waters (his Polyester director), Debbie Reynolds, Robert Wagner, George Takei and former gossip queen Rona Barrett.

The rest is here. I think the unfortunate thing is that the fear of being outed is still happening today and not just in Hollywood.
