Last week it sounded as though Hallmark might be including more LGBT characters in movies, and then something happened. Of course it's truncated but I've added links as usual. I really don't like to focus too much on things like this, not when there are more important LGBTQ stories to be told.
On Thursday, Hallmark pulled ads with gay brides kissing each other. All G-rated and nothing with adult content...or at least nothing most normal people would consider adult content.
Then Crown Media who owns Hallmark made this statement:
“The debate surrounding these commercials on all sides was distracting from the purpose of our network, which is to provide entertainment value,” it said.
And now the latest news is that Hallmark has reversed its decision to pull the ads and they are apologizing for taking them down in the first place.
"The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we've seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused. Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision," Perry said in a statement provided to CNN Business.
Here's the full story. It must have been a busy weekend over at Hallmark.
Holiday Season Interview with Kit Williamson of Eastsiders
The most recent season of Eastsiders is on Netflix right now, so this interview with Kit Williamson who directs and produces the series is no surprise. They discuss the holiday season and a few other things. I like Eastsiders and I haven't been disappointed with the newest season so far. It's one of those TV shows that has its own unique voice. You really can't compare it to anything else out there, and I'm thankful we have it.
My parents would always set up Christmas in the living room and make my sister and I walk out together with our eyes covered.
Here's the link for more. There are a few cute photos, too.
