Senate Bill To Protect Same Sex Marriage Passes, Ryan Field Books

Senate Bill To Protect Same Sex Marriage Passes

I've been hearing that this was a bipartisan bill, and now they state Republican opposition. But from what I gather, there were Republicans that voted for the bill to pass, and of course, all Democrats voted in favor of the bill.

In any event, the bill was drafted to codify same sex marriage and interracial marriage. And now the bill goes to the House before it can be presented to the President. Here's a statement from President Biden.

“With today’s bipartisan Senate passage of the Respect for Marriage Act, the United States is on the brink of reaffirming a fundamental truth: love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry the person they love,” Biden said in a statement.

Here's the rest. After what SCOTUS did with Roe vs Wade, which I found to be disgraceful, they're hoping to protect same sex marriage and interracial marriage with this bill. It all hit close to home with Chuck Schumer. He has a daughter who married a woman and they are expecting a baby in the spring.

The world is changing faster than we think.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

Gay Couples Just Like Straight Couples Last a Lifetime in Their Marriages, Ryan Field Books

Gay Couples Just Like Straight Couples Last a Lifetime in Their Marriages

It always amazes me that straight people seem so shocked to find out that gay couples have relationships/marriages that last just as long, or longer, than their straight relationships/marriages. In fact, I've known so many older gay couples who've been together for many years I've lost track. So for those of you who don't know this, we are not all Will and his Grace. Not all of us have a best girlfriend. Our husbands (or wives for Lesbians) are our best friends.

This article I'm linking to right now shows 7 gay couples who've been together for a long time. It gets into the fact that gay relationships endure for many reasons. One thing they did mention I found interesting that a lot of relationships would have lasted longer if it hadn't been for AIDS.

And then it goes on to show 7 gay couples who've lasted for many years. In my own marriage to Tony, we've been together for 30 years this December. We met in college. And the years have passed so quickly I can't believe it. They have lesbian couples, too. And I have known more than a few women who've been together just as long as men. I also love the before and after photos with some of them.

Here's a link to read more.

Not the Only Gay in the Village of Hay in Australia, Ryan Field Books

Not the Only Gay in the Village of Hay in Australia

This is the story of a young guy named Jefferey Pu who was sent to work in the small town of Hay in Australia. Naturally, he was concerned about how he would be received there as a gay man.

However, the moment Pu arrived in Hay Plains he was accepted with friendship and dignity. And he fell in love with Hay.

Each year they have a Pride event in Hay where they try to build the largest human rainbow in the world. And the overall goal is to promote acceptance, inclusion, and support.

The Chairman of Hay Mardi Gras believes the human rainbow to be symbolic in several ways.

“We’ve brought together communities not just from Hay but around the region and from interstate to help us be heard and seen,” he says. “Something as simple as a human rainbow so big screams that in volumes.”

Here's more. They go on to talk about the mental health aspects and how the entire community gets involved. Sounds like a great little place to me.

Russian Parliament Passes More Homophobic Anti-Gay Laws, Ryan Field Books

Russian Parliament Passes More Homophobic Anti-Gay Laws

Good old homophobic Russia is at it again. I just hope DeSantis down in Florida doesn't get any ideas from them.

Russia is now banning all forms of  "gay propaganda" and something called "propaganda of pedophilia and sex change." I have no idea how pedophilia and sex change are connected. All studies prove that most pedophiles are straight, middle aged white men. But leave it to Russia to twist it around.

The bill passed unanimously. And you have to wonder. What a backward country.

However, the law must also pass in Russia's Upper Chamber called the Federal Council, and then it has to be signed by Putin. And I have no doubt it will pass. This all stems from Putin anyway.

The author of the bill said this:

“The solution will protect our children, the future of the country from the darkness spread by the United States and European states,” Volodin wrote. “We have our own traditions and values.”

Here's more. That's absolutely ridiculous, and they don't even know how backward they look to the rest of the world. Or how this will go down in history. And once again, my heart goes out to all LGBTQ people in Russia.

Colorado Gay Club Shooting and Hate Crimes, Ryan Field Books

Colorado Gay Club Shooting and Hate Crimes

We've all been waiting patiently to hear more about the shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, and how he's going to be charged with the mass shooting at a gay club in Colorado Springs, CO. So far the police have been investigating the crime and they haven't said much.

Everyone wants to know what motivated Aldrich to do what he did. People are angry and they want answers. The director at the Transgender Center of the Rockies, April Owen, believes this was a hate crime. She also believes it would be a disservice if it wasn't treated as a hate crime.

It get's a little more complicated, though. According to Deputy District Attorney, Bilal Aziz, a suspect's bias plays a huge part in determining if it was a hate crime or not.

“If part of the motivation is a bias motivation, then we still have a viable charge,” he said.

Here's the rest. They go into a lot more detail.  I never realized how complicated and involved it is to determine whether something is a hate crime or not. I do think that storming into a crowded gay bar and shooting people at random in the most vicious way should qualify as hate. But the law can be tricky at times.

Porn Star Father of Colorado Springs Shooter Anderson Lee Aldrich Goes On a Rant Saying "We Don't Do Gay," Ryan Field Books

Porn Star Father of Colorado Springs Shooter Anderson Lee Aldrich Goes On a Rant Saying "We Don't Do Gay"

This is really disturbing and sometimes confusing. The father of the guy who just did the mass shooting in a gay club in Colorado Springs, CO, went on some kind of rant that is so weird I'm not even sure I understand half of what he's saying. There's a video at the link I'm posting below.

Even more disturbing, this father claims that when he first heard about the mass shooting he worried that his son might be gay. And this guy, Aaron Brink, doesn't even share the same name as Aldrich anymore and they've been estranged for years. According to this article, he's a former MMA Fighter and a Porn Star who also goes by the name "Dick Delaware."

There's a lot more to this story and you can read it, here. The father does, however, show some remorse. And they also get into the fact that Aldrich is non binary and uses they/them pronouns.

As far as I know, the police still haven't stated a motive.
