Throwing Eggs At Gays In Wilton Manors; Gay Pornster Bruno Bernal and the N Word; Is Aging Harder For LGBT People?

Throwing Eggs At Gays In Wilton Manors

Here's more on the egg throwing incident in Wilton Manors, FL. There's a very large gay population there.

He said that, shortly before midnight, a car appeared in front of them on Wilton Drive at Northeast 7th Avenue.
“Suddenly we heard somebody scream, ‘Do you want to be gay?’ And got hit from behind with an egg,” Carter explained CBS Miami.
Here's more.  It's been a while since I've heard about anything like this happening.

Gay Pornster Bruno Bernal and the N Word

I'll never understand why some people have to do these things.

Gay adult film performer Bruno Bernal has doubled down on his use of the word after being widely criticized this week, suggesting those offended by his language should “grow a thicker skin and be less sensitive.”

Here's the rest. It goes into a lot more detail. But his employers, Men.com, released a statement where they make it clear they'll no longer be working with him.

Is Aging Harder For LGBT People?

I think for some of us aging is harder. I follow the Keto diet routinely. I work out more often and I'll pretty much do anything to fight the aging process. And I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

There's a survey at the link below designed for LGBT who are aging.

Whatever age you are, we want to know how you feel. We’re hoping to create a picture of what our community feels about ageing. If you’re a teen, a senior, or anywhere in between, we want to hear your voice.
Gay Star News is working with organisations and individuals dedicated to helping improve the future of older LGBTI people. We will be sharing the results with them, and publishing them, to ensure the information you share influences the right people.

Here's the link. On the plus side of all this vanity, there are a lot of health benefits that go along with the fear of aging. And you do feel better, physically.

Russell Tovey's Sexy Feet; Married Gay Couple Have Sex With A Woman; Straight Guys Who Love To Be Bottoms

Russell Tovey's Sexy Feet

This is actually a link to one of those multiple news items that cover several different stories at once, but one is a photo of Russell Tovey giving a foot massage to another guy.

Russell Tovey didn’t mind the feet

Here's the rest.  Those of you who are into men's feet will like it, and those of you who pretend that you aren't into men's feet will like it even more. You have to scroll down.

Married Gay Couple Have Sex With a Woman

I have to admit this is something I have never seen happen in my entire gay life. And I can promise you that if I went up and down my friend list in real life and asked every gay couple I know if they would do this, they would either scream or laugh in my face.

But I suppose anything is possible...

Chris and Matt had been together for eight years when they decided to it was time spice things up. So they did what any monogamous gay couple does… they invited a woman named Cait into their bedroom. Now, they’re a bisexual thruple and, they say, they couldn’t be happier!

You can check this out here. There are 44 comments from readers as of right now and you don't want to miss a single one.

Straight Guys Who Love To Be Bottoms

Well, this story I do get. In fact, I've seen this several times in my own real life with straight guys.

More and more straight men are into bottoming, at least according to one prominent sexpert.

It’s a phenomenon known as pegging and it’s the idea of a woman performing anal sex on a man, usually with a dildo or strap-on.

Here's the rest. I don't understand what's so shocking about this one. If done correctly, any man, gay or straight, can enjoy bottoming.

What Is Chemsex (PNP)? Can You Get Raped At A Chemsex Party? Chemsex Parties; "Chemsex" Documentary NetFlix

What Is Chemsex (PNP)?

I guess I'm kind of hooked on this topic right now. And there's actually a decent amount of information out there about it. I really don't know anything about it. I rarely ever do any drugs, not even prescription. For the past few years it's been called, "an up and coming topic of interest." From what I gather, it's a big part of gay culture these days. Some are even claiming that when they go to these parties and they get wasted on whatever drug it is that they are taking, they've been gang raped.

On Wiki they also refer to Chemsex as PNP or PnP, which means Party and Play.
The term PnP is commonly used by gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) in North America, while chemsex is more associated with the gay scene in Britain and continental Europe.
The drug of choice is typically methamphetamine, known as tina or T, but other drugs are also used, such as mephedrone, GHB, and GBL.
There's more here.

Can You Get Raped At A Chemsex Party?

If you go to a Tupperware party in your new shirt from Saks and your Bonobos pants, and you get raped or gang banged, you have every right to press charges and nail the criminals who did that to you. You've been violated. You've been assaulted. You've been scarred for life. The theme of the party was Tupperware, and all you wanted to do was socialize with other people who were interested in buying Tupperware.

However, if you willingly go to a chemsex party, and you remove all your clothes and take drugs in someone's basement knowing that the theme of this party is sex and drugs, the odds of you having sex are pretty strong. Otherwise why would you even be there? I know I wouldn't go to a chemsex party hoping to find good Tupperware canisters. It's all about sex and drugs. It's a chemsex party and everyone there is thinking about sex and drugs. So this is where the lines of consent come into play.

This is an interesting article that discusses why men who get raped at chemsex parties avoid reporting it to the police. It's a difficult topic with gray areas, and it's not the same as other sexual assault cases. I'm not saying it's right. There's nothing right about rape. I'm only stating that it's different in this case.

Research also suggests that chemsex environments are blurring the lines of consent. Morris said: ‘Initially, I recognised that [the gay men appearing in the system] didn’t fit the typical profile of your generic person that commits a sexual offense.

‘It appears they didn’t target or groom their victim. In other words, it was situational: “We were all off our face together” or “someone did this to me last week so I can do this to them now.” There was no thinking or recognition that what they were doing was a sexual offense.’

Here's the rest.  It goes into more detail. Evidently, some of these chemsex parties are streamed online, and viewers request certain sex acts.

There are comments, too.

Chemsex Parties
Here's a piece that dates back a few years, but it talks about what really happens at Chemsex parties.
“This is a very deliberate act,” Bourne explained. “It’s not that you’ve gone out on a Friday night, you’ve taken some drugs, you’ve picked up a guy, you’ve gone home and had sex with him and you happen to still be high... What we’re talking about here is guys deliberately using these drugs to help facilitate sexual contact with another man, and often lots of men within group sex environments.”

Chemsex Documentary NetFlix
Here's a link to IMDb about a documentary titled, Chemsex. I haven't seen it yet, but I will look for it. I guess I have to do a search on NetFlix for this one to show up.
In hidden basements, bedrooms and bars across London, "Chemsex" is a documentary that exposes frankly and intimately a dark side to modern gay life. Traversing an underworld of intravenous drug use and weekend-long sex parties, "Chemsex" tells the story of several men struggling to make it out of 'the scene' alive - and one health worker who has made it his mission to save them. While society looks the other way, this powerful and unflinching film uncovers a group of men battling with HIV, drug addiction and finding acceptance in a changing world.
You can check that out here.  If you do a simple search you'll come up with a lot of information, including a link to a You Tube trailer. There are a few reviews out there, too, but I'm not linking to them because I think this is such a subjective topic I'd rather not listen to anyone else's review. I'd rather form my own opinions.

Free Gay Excerpt: Valley of the Dudes by Ryan Field; Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey On Coming Out; Gay Tops and Bottoms, Again

Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey On Coming Out

Here's a piece about Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey talking about how their careers improved after they came out as gay.

So, in a time when homophobia in the entertainment industry may not be so overt but still commonplace, Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey should consider themselves #blessed. The stars of HBO’s Looking: The Movie, which premieres on Saturday, told Queerty that they have not had any personal experiences with homophobia in Hollywood (at least that they’re aware of). In fact, Groff and Tovey both agreed that their careers only got brighter after coming out, even if they have not ascended to the Hollywood A-list as of yet. A sentiment that has been echoed by Quinto. It’s ironic then that the actors in Looking, one of the bluest shows (both literally and figuratively), are the ones comforting us – that being a famous gay man is not always so tragic.

There's more here.  I still think a lot of actors remain in the closet for valid, solid reasons. It's the same for gay men in almost every single profession out there. I'm not advocating that by any means, but I don't judge it either.

Gay Tops and Bottoms, Again

The queer presses never seem to get enough of this topic. Here's another one of those stories about gay tops and bottoms that most definitely will not change your life, however, it's interesting in a general, glib IDGF kind of way.

“In my experience the ratio is about 2:1 with bottoms in the lead,” one person says.

How exactly does he know this?

“Go look at sex ads in various cities,” he explains. “I know in most of the CA Bay Area, you’ll actually find a ratio more like 3:1. Up where I live now it’s closer to 4:1.”

Four bottoms for every one top? Sounds exhausting.

The odd thing is that there is a little truth to all of this. You can check it out here

Free Gay Excerpt Valley of the Dudes by Ryan Field

Here's another excerpt from Valley of the Dudes. I had to censor this one a little for google blogger, but the uncensored book is up for sale at all the links below. It's been re-released as a gay parody this year by Riverdale Avenue Books to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Valley of the Dolls. I've posted a lot about it in the past week, from the press release to the new introduction I added to the book, which you can check out here.

On Saturday night, Rush and Lance went to the talent show in the local high school gymnasium. Rush hesitated about going, but he’d promised his aunt he’d do her this favor before she’d left for Florida. The talent show was being held to raise money for college scholarships, and the knitting circle his mother and aunt belonged to was sponsoring the event. There was a bake sale afterward, which meant Rush had to bring two cakes: one on behalf of his aunt, and one on behalf of his late mother. And his aunt had left explicit instructions on the kinds of cakes she wanted him to bring: two white coconut layer cakes. She told him, with a stern voice, people depended on those cakes.

Rush felt awkward about asking Lance to go to a small town talent show. Lance was a well known entertainment attorney and talent agent all over the world. So Rush figured he’d make the cakes, deliver them on behalf of his mother and his aunt, and then he and Lance would spend a quiet evening together roasting chestnuts in front of the fire.

But when Lance saw him making the cakes, he sat down at the kitchen table and asked, “What are you doing? I had no idea you knew how to cook.”

Rush measured out two cups of sugar and poured them into a bowl with room temperature butter. He thought Lance was still up in his bed napping. After they’d had sex that morning, they’d both gone back to bed. Rush smiled and said, “I don’t really know how to cook. I know how to bake. There’s a difference.”

Lance folded his arms across his chest and said, “I didn’t know there was a difference.”

“There’s a huge difference,” Rush said, switching on the mixing machine. “Some people can do both, but mostly you’re either a great baker or a great cook. I’m neither, but I know how to bake. “

Lance noticed four layer cake pans on the counter. “Why are you baking all this right now?”

Rush smiled and told him about the talent show and the bake sale. He assured Lance he wasn’t going to ask him to go. He’d just drop the cakes off, make an appearance for the sake of his aunt, and then come right back home.

Lance rubbed his jaw and frowned. “Are you embarrassed to be seen with me?”

Rush dropped a wooden spoon and said, “Of course not. I’m proud to be seen with you. I just didn’t think you’d be interested in going to a small town talent show. You’re a huge agent from New York. I don’t want to bore you to death with something like this.”

“There’s something about me you don’t know,” Lance said. “First, I’m not a snob. I’d love to go. Second, I’m also an amateur musician and singer. I’ve written a few of my own songs, and trust me, I am an amateur. So I won’t be judging anyone else.”

Rush smiled and shook his head. He had no idea Lance was a musician. Evidently, there was a lot about Lance Sharp he still didn’t know. “Well then, we’ll go. I’m sure the women in the knitting circle will love you.”

*****

At 7:00, they arrived at the high school gymnasium with two fresh coconut layer cakes on cardboard rounds covered with pink cellophane. Though Rush hadn’t baked anything in a long time, he was proud of what he’d accomplished that afternoon. The cakes looked very professional.

They set the cakes down on a folding table covered with a pink paper tablecloth and Rush introduced Lance to the women in the knitting circle. Lance smiled and flirted with them, while they blushed and batted their eyelids. And the talent show wasn’t half bad either. It turned out to be a karaoke show, and some of the local singers had decent voices. One older guy sang a great version of Fly Me to the Moon. At the end of the show, when the announcer asked if anyone else would like to perform a karaoke song, Lance stood up and raised his hand. They were sitting in the back row. As Lance stepped out of the aisle and crossed toward the stage, Rush pressed his palm to his throat and stared in amazement. He watched Lance choose a specific song. And when the music began to play and Lance started singing a slow, romantic version of his song, Rush sat back in his seat and smiled. Lance had a deep, smooth voice. His pitch was excellent and he didn’t miss a lyric or a note. By the time he was finished singing, the entire room was standing and applauding him.

On the way home, the weather changed. The wind had increased and the heavy old car rocked back and forth. But Rush was a good driver and he knew the roads well. He laughed and said, “I had no idea you were that good. You could have been a performer instead of an entertainment attorney.” And he wasn’t just saying this because Lance was his lover and he wanted to boost his ego. He meant every word.

Lance shrugged. “I’m okay,” he said. “But I don’t have what it takes to make million dollar records. I know who I am. I’m much better at what I do. But I do enjoy writing music. One of these days I just might try to get one of my own songs published. I’d love to see Cody record it, too.”

Rush nodded. He watched a heavy branch snap from a tree and fly across the road. He was about to say something about Cody and Roy, but he gripped the wheel, hit the breaks and the car swerved to the right. Before he came to a full stop, there was a thump on the front bumper.

Gay Marriage vs Straight Marriage; SFW Gay Adult Films; #Grindrfails

Gay Marriage Vs Straight Marriage

Of course, this is sarcasm, and you'll need a sense of humor. But I figured I'd better mention that just to be safe.

It talks about the differences between gay marriage and straight marriage.

Stay as traditional as you want or think out of the box. Our role models for what same-sex marriage looks like are few and far between. For this reason we can do whatever we want at our weddings. If we want to have chiseled men in shorty-shorts serving body shots it’s totally okay. Have troupe of your favorite drag queens entertain with Liza’s finest or Judy’s best is completely acceptable.

You can read the rest here.

In reality, marriage is marriage and there's really not that much of a difference at all between straight and gay marriages, from what I've seen.

SFW Gay Adult Films

I'm not so sure about this one, but it's interesting. And they say it's SFW.

Through the power of creative editing, gay porn is given a whole new cultural light in the below video thats been spreading across the web like wildfire.

You can check this one out here, with an example.

#Grindrfails

There's really not much news out there right now, and I'm not posting about politics. So here's what you're not supposed to do when you go to hook up apps like Grindr and Scruff. If you're like me and you know nothing about hook up apps, you'll find it especially amusing.

To help you make the most of your Independence Day, we’ve once again compiled examples of things you should never say to someone you’re hoping to bump uglies with.

Brent Corrigan On King Cobra Movie; Real Life Queer Stories; That Gay Single Life

Brent Corrigan On James Franco's King Cobra Movie

Even though the independent film community has given straight James Franco and his film, King Cobra, "acclaim," I still think it's important to hear comments and thoughts from  a gay perspective. Not an LGBT perspective this time. There's a difference. I'm talking about only the "G" in LGBT. A gay perspective, with respect to gay culture and a gay man's POV. And sometimes that's VERY different from LGBT.

But more than that, since the film was allegedly based on the early years of Brent Corrigan's film career, without his input, his thoughts are even more important.

However, the real Corrigan/Lockhart has lashed out once again at the production, accusing Hollywood of “bastardising my early years in porn”

You can read more of this here, where Corrigan talks about a book he's writing, from his own experience and perspective.

And this is from an earlier article on the same topic.

In a post to Facebook, Corrigan said: “The internet has been a buzz regarding some recent news that a movie is being filmed right now in New York State chronicling the Bryan Kocis murder and the early days of my adult career.
“I was originally approached to be a part of the film as a consultant and the cast. I was asked to play a small part in the film and declined the role.
He added: “Ultimately, I chose to move forward with my own plans to finally release my book in place of taking part in someone else’s presentation of events that I personally lived as a young adult.

You can read that one here.

I can't comment because I have no intention of seeing King Cobra. But I will read Corrigan's book when it's released.

Real Life Queer Stories

I saw this on Twitter recently and thought I would share. It's a web site filled with real life LGBT stories coming from real LGBT people.

I very clearly remember being 13 and being a bit concerned that I might not actually be straight as I had expected to be. I also remember thinking, ‘don’t be stupid, of course you’re not,’ and burying it deep inside where I didn’t deal with it for nearly ten years. Ahhhh, adolescence. Of course I…

You can check this one out here. It's a simple web site that's smooth to navigate. And you would be amazed at how much Twitter opens the world to all people coming from the LGBT community. It's not like Facebook.

That Gay Single Life

Here's a post with more of those memes that have quotes. This time from single gay men. The premise is that it's okay to be single.

I'm a single gay guy and all I want is a husband...until I take a close look at my friends' relationships and I'm all like "ew but not like that."

I actually think some gay men are happier being single and they function better. At least that's what I've seen from personal experience through more than a few good single friends. I would imagine the same goes for straight people.

Here's the rest.

The Rainbow Detective Agency: The Wedding; 1950's Gay Advice; Would You Be Straight?

The Rainbow Detective Agency: The Wedding

Here's the next book in the Rainbow Detective series, The Wedding. In short, without giving any spoilers, Blair and Proctor travel cross country to Provincetown to get marred for two reasons...one is business related and the other is so that Proctor's parents who live in Connecticut can attend the wedding. This book is a lot more emotional than the other books and Proctor softens a little at times when he least expects it. He's facing serious life issues with his family and he's growing up fast.

They are calling this "Book 7" on Amazon, however, it's really book 6. It's being called "7" because Amazon considers Book 5...the box set...an actual book, too. I can't control that one, so the best I can do is explain it.  If you have any questions, you can e-mail me. My e-mail is on the sidebar in "About."

There's a lot of sex in the book, but that's not what the book is about. I see loud mouthed authors complaining about too much sex in books all the time without ever considering one important factor: if the sex were removed from this book the story would still stand on its own. I've already proven that with Chase of a Dream by releasing the version with sex, and the version without. I wish more erotic authors would do this, too. Maybe then we wouldn't have to listen to the sex haters complain about too much sex. It really would shut them up. It's also an excellent exercise in editing to see if you really do have a strong story line.

But I digress, with a smile...

Here's the blurb:

Want to escape into pure male/male fantasy and romance? Would you like to meet two hot men who love and trust each other enough to invite other hot men into their bedroom? The Rainbow Detective Agency is the place to go for that and more.

After Blair gets shot working on a disgruntled author case, Proctor and Blair decide to get legally married.

When they plan their small wedding in Provincetown instead of Los Angeles, they meet a handsome young guy named Cameron Marcus with Internet fame, hoping to hire him as a private detective.
The problem is they know nothing about Cameron except his fleeting fame, which makes Proctor far more cautious than Blair.

What will happen if Cameron decides to take the job at the detective agency and move to Los Angeles? Will young sexy Cameron turn out to be perfect for the job, or will he be the worst mistake Blair ever made?

A steamy, sexy male/male romance, with humor, wit, love and emotion that has just the right amount of tenderness to bring a few tears to your eyes.

This book is a stand-alone in the The Rainbow Detective series and books one to four can be purchased as a box set.

You can check the rest out here, on Amazon.

1950's Gay Advice

Those of us who weren't around in the 1950's often take so much for granted when it comes to everything LGBT+ related. I know I'm guilty of that more than I probably should be.  Not all advice back then was good advice when it came anything gay related.

But it wasn't all bad. This is the advice one father gave his gay son in the 1950's...

One day, Patrick’s father, sensing his son was gay, sat him down and gave him a piece of advice he still carries with him to this day: “Don’t sneak. Because if you sneak … it means you think you’re doing the wrong thing.”

“Of all the things a father in 1959 could have told his gay son,” Patrick recalls, “my father tells me to be proud of myself and not sneak. … I had the patron saint of dads for sissies. No, I didn’t know it at the time, but I know now.”

You can check out the rest here.

Would You Be Straight?

I always find this interesting. It asks gay people the question that if you could be straight, would you?

We admit when we came a across the below Buzzfeed video titled “If You Could Be Straight, Would You?” we winced a bit, imagining the sad stories and even sadder desires to have been born more “normal.”

But it’s a pleasant surprise to hear the overwhelming pride from so many factions within the LGBTQ community — that even when there are hurdles along life’s road, these fabulous queer folks wouldn’t have it any other way.

You can check out the video here. You'll like it.

I can tell you without thinking twice about it that I wouldn't want to be straight for any amount of money in the world. I would have missed waaay too much fun in my life, a lot of which has been incorporated into my books.

When A Man Loves A Man; Kim Davis In Federal Custody; Bisexual Israeli Guys; PrEP Study and HIV

When A Man Loves A Man

I'll update with more links as I get them, but for now I'm linking to the publisher's web site for the release of When A Man Loves A Man. It's the most recent book in the Glendora Hill series. And this one is focused on a couple of new characters that are introduced, one of whom is an openly gay cowboy and country western singer. I never hear anything mainstream where men sing love songs about other men and I wanted to do that with fiction with this book.

There's an interesting twist to this one that is sort of the opposite of coming out of the closet as gay. In this particular case, without giving spoilers, it's the opposite of what you might think.

Here's the blurb:

Clayton's two passionate dreams in life are marrying the man he loves, Bobby Joe, and making it big as an openly gay country western singer. He thinks life is simple until he surprises Bobby Joe one weekend in Glendora Hill at the Marshall Ranch and discovers a few secrets Bobby Joe's been keeping from him all along. When Bobby Joe's dad rejects him with obvious contempt, Clayton's not sure how to deal with him or the rest of Bobby Joe’s unexpected family. His plans to ask for Bobby Joe’s hand in marriage fall through each time he comes close to the right moment. With the help of recurring characters like Sebastian, Judd, and Avery, Clayton finds some comfort in Glendora Hill, but not nearly as much as he'd hoped for. Will the obstacles that stand in his way of marrying Bobby Joe be too hard to fight? And will Bobby Joe's hateful dad ever get over the fact that a strong handsome gay cowboy like Clayton wants to marry his precious son?

Ravenous Romance Link

Kim Davis In Federal Custody

The Kentucky county clerk, Kim Davis, who has been defying legal orders to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples based on her religious convictions, was taken into federal custody today. I'm sure the saga is going to continue.

A defiant county clerk was sent to jail for contempt Thursday after insisting that her “conscience will not allow” her to follow a federal judge’s orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

“God’s moral law conflicts with my job duties,” Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis told U.S. District Judge David Bunning. “You can’t be separated from something that’s in your heart and in your soul.”

The judge said she left him with no alternative but to jail her, since fines alone would not change her mind. A deputy escorted her out of the courtroom, although not in handcuffs, to be turned over to the custody of federal marshals.

The hard part for me with all this is that while I understand her religious convictions, I don't understand her outright contempt for the law. And that's as far as I'm taking this. It's the law. The law has nothing to do with how you feel, think, or what you believe. If that were the case and everyone acted the way she's been acting we'd all be living in absolute chaos.

You can read the rest here.

Bisexual Israeli Guys

There have been studies lately that seem to indicate that there are a lot more people who identify as something other than heterosexual. This one is about Israeli guys...

The Israeli website Mako teamed up with the Pannels Institute to conduct a study in which they asked 600 non-religious Israeli Jews over the age of 18 about their sexual preferences, and the results may delight you.

Researchers found that 67 percent of respondents considered themselves to be heterosexual, but only 3 percent of that 67 percent said they were “100 percent homosexual.” The remaining 30 percent said they were somewhere in-between straight and gay.

I'm not all that shocked. I've been posting for ages about how many "straight" guys I dated when I was single, many of whom now have wives and kids. They always told me, at the time, they were bisexual. One was a big strong Marine who shocked me when he started showing interest. It's something that wasn't talked about as much in the 90's as it is now...or accepted as much.

There's more here, with a few photos.

PreP Study and HIV

I've posted about this before. It's about gay men taking the drug, Truvada, as a prophylaxis. I think this is one of the first studies to actually get results that's not considered a clinical trial.

Over 600 people have been found to not have contracted HIV after using PrEP for two and a half years.

Researchers at the Kaiser Pemanente Medical Center in San Francisco have given over 600 people Truvada to use daily.

No one contracted HIV.

The average age of the study participants was 37, 99% were gay or bisexual men and the average length of individual usage was 7.2 months.

You can read more here.

The article goes on to mention the same arguments they've been discussing all along. One group supports PrEP while another considers it a "party" drug designed to keep people from using condoms. My biggest concern is the cost of the drug and the fact that like all other drugs there are side effects. However, even though it's not something I would personally do because I don't like taking ANY medications at all, I do think that if it helps anyone out there either emotionally or physically it's worth the try.

Catholic Priest, Gay Sex, and Bagels; Anne Rice on Internet Lynch Mobs; Tab Hunter: His Gay Fears

Catholic Priest, Gay Sex, and Bagels

When I saw this one yesterday on social media I couldn't believe it, and I went to 12 years of parochial school and I'd thought I'd heard it all. Never, in all the 12 years I spent in Catholic school, did I hear something this ridiculous.

A Catholic priest has come up with one of the strangest analogies yet for gay sex, claiming it is like cramming a piece of bagel in your ear.

Preacher John Riccardo was speaking at a conference in Michigan on Wednesday, called Welcoming and Accompanying Our Brothers and Sisters with Same-Sex Attraction. It was a Catholic conference in order to help gay and lesbian people stay celibate.

He was taking part in a lecture called ‘HIV and Other Health Risks Associated with Men Who Have Sex With Men’, led by HIV researcher Timothy Flanigan.

Yes. Bagels in your ear.

You can read the rest here.

Trust me, there are 54 comments and you don't want to miss any of them.

Anne Rice on Internet Lynch Mobs

If you follow Anne Rice you already know she's no stranger when it comes to speaking up about online bullies. And now there's a recent piece in The Guardian that gets into the topic of a new kind of censorship.

The bestselling novelist Anne Rice, author of Interview With the Vampire, has said that she believes “we are facing a new era of censorship, in the name of political correctness”, in the wake of the heavy online criticism that has been directed at Kate Breslin’s romance novel For Such a Time.

Rice hit out at what she called an “internet lynch mob” that has descended upon Breslin in the last week.

I can't comment because I know nothing about Breslin and I haven't read her book.

In any event, here's a link to the Anne Rice piece.

Tab Hunter: His Gay Fears

These little stories about the one time film star, Tab Hunter, keep popping up and I find them fascinating, especially in relation to some film stars nowadays. And I think that's because the same thing is still going on in Hollywood and many film stars who are gay are still terrified of coming out, or they're buried so deeply in a world of denial and endless selfies they don't see a need to come out. I usually see them comment, "I don't like labels," and it's kind of sad. You can't run from who you are.

But the truth is that many are coming out today and the most talented are doing well. Tab Hunter didn't have that opportunity back in his day.

Tab Hunter, now 84, came out publicly as a gay man nearly a decade ago.

But it almost happened 50 years earlier when he was taking off as a movie star and was very deep in the closet.

‘It all came about because Henry Willson, who “discovered” me and many other “pretty boy” actors, was upset when I left him to be represented by another agent,’ Hunter writes in the current issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

Around the same time that Hunter left Willson, the agent learned that the scandal magazine Confidential was planning to out Rock Hudson who was still one of Willson’s clients.

‘He cut a deal with them to keep Rock out of their pages feeding them dirt on me instead,’ Hunter writes.

You can check out the rest here.

I've never been an advocate for pushing anyone out of the closet. It's a personal decision and it's different for everyone.

"Stand with Margie" and Pope Francis; Stonewall Star Jeremy Irving Comes Out Swinging; Grindr Bots and STDs

"Stand with Margie" and Pope Francis

One of the reasons why I still keep this blog running is for things like this...the story about Margie and Andrea, a married couple, where Margie was fired from a Catholic school for being gay and married. It's not great clickbait. It will never get nearly as much attention as pundit, Megyn Kelly, or Donald Trump, and yet it's 100 times more important. It's simply about two decent, hard working women trying to live their lives to the best of their ability and still facing discrimination through no fault of their own. I could go on, but you get my point. No one else has touched this topic since it broke. I first posted about all this here.

And I've been following the story ever since. Now the supporters who set up a Facebook page for Margie are asking people to write to Pope Francis as some sort of show of appeal.

TAKE ACTION!

You can check that out here.

The story about Margie didn't make the Guardian, but one similar did.

In May 2012, she wed the love of her life, Donna, in Iowa. It was also at that time she learned her cancer was in remission. The following May, she applied for – and later accepted – her dream job, a position that entailed running a food pantry at St Francis Xavier, a Roman Catholic church.

And this year, on 9 May, Simon was asked to resign from that job after her marriage to a local Lutheran reverend, Donna Simon, was noted in a magazine article.

In any event, the main point I'm trying to make is that I live in the northern most section of the Philadelphia area, between New York and Philadelphia, in New Hope, Bucks County, PA, and I watch the local news regularly from Philadelphia. So far I have not seen one single follow up on this story, and the only news I see related to Pope Francis is how wonderful his visit to Philadelphia is going to be. You would think God himself is coming. So I have very little hope that any letters from any amount of people on this topic of Margie being fired will help much. But I do give them credit for trying. At least there's that.

Stonewall Star Jeremy Irving Comes Out Swinging

In yet another attempt to save the image of the upcoming film, Stonewall, a white star in the film, Jeremy Irving, recently made a few comments of his own. I posted about activists calling for a boycott yesterday and if you scroll down you'll see more links. The main reason we're seeing this is because activists are calling for a boycott of Stonewall. And that can get nasty and gain momentum. I've seen that happen on the Internet many times before.

To anyone with concerns about the diversity of the #StonewallMovie. I saw the movie for the first time last week and can assure you all that it represents almost every race and section of society that was so fundamental to one of the most important civil rights movements in living history. Marsha P Johnson is a major part of the movie, and although first hand accounts of who threw the first brick in the riots vary wildly, it is a fictional black transvestite character played by the very talented @vlad_alexis who pulls out the first brick in the riot scenes. My character is adopted by a group of street kids whilst sleeping rough in New York. In my opinion, the story is driven by the leader of this gang played by @jonnybeauchamp who gives an extraordinary performance as a Puerto Rican transvestite struggling to survive on the streets. Jonathan Rhys Meyers' character represents the Mattachine Society, who were at the time a mostly white and middle class gay rights group who stood against violence and radicalism. I felt incredibly nervous taking on this role knowing how important the subject matter is to so many people but Roland Emmerich is one of the most sensitive and heartfelt directors I've worked with and I hope that, as an ensemble, we have not only done such an important story justice but also made a good movie as well. Jeremy

He can "assure" us? How old is this dude? And and could there be a conflict of interest in his comments?

Here's a link to the entire article. You'll want to check out the comments on this one, especially this comment from someone who is allegedly a Stonewall Historian, David Carter.

Here is what Stonewall historian David Carter said about Marsha and Sylvia in an interview published on GayToday.com:

Paul D. Cain: Where’s Sylvia Rivera? Duberman’s Stonewall placed her at the bar on the first night of the riots, yet your book makes absolutely no mention of her (although you do mention her buddy, Marsha P. Johnson). Do you think that, like so many others, she fabricated her remarks about being there?

David Carter: Yes, I am afraid that I could only conclude that Sylvia’s account of her being there on the first night was a fabrication. Randy Wicker told me that Marsha P. Johnson, his roommate, told him that Sylvia was not at the Stonewall Inn at the outbreak of the riots as she had fallen asleep in Bryant Park after taking heroin. (Marsha had gone up to Bryant Park, found her asleep, and woke her up to tell her about the riots.) Playwright and early gay activist Doric Wilson also independently told me that Marsha Johnson had told him that Sylvia was not at the Stonewall Riots.

Sylvia also showed a real inconsistency in her accounts of the Stonewall Riots. In one account she claimed that the night the riots broke out was the first time that she had ever been at the Stonewall Inn; in another account she said that she had been there many times. In one account she said that she was there in drag; in another account she says that she was not in drag. She told Martin Duberman that she went to the Stonewall Inn the night the riots began to celebrate Marsha Johnson’s birthday, but Marsha was born in August, not June. I also did not find one credible witness who saw her there on the first night.

There are more quotes like this, and it gets even more interesting. Evidently, something I didn't know, there's controversy about everything surrounding what happened at Stonewall. Frankly, I'm kind of curious about what the real story is.

From yet another POV, here's a piece from Huff Po with a quote from someone who was actually there...not a well paid actor who has to promote a film.

Miss Major, a 73-year-old trans activist who participated in the riots, didn’t even make it through the full two minutes and 20 seconds of the trailer before she turned it off. “It was too much to watch,” she told HuffPost. “It’s just, ugh, they’re whitewashing it again. They’re burying us in the ground so when they step off of us, there’s no proof that we were even there.”

Many say that Emmerich’s decision to cast a handsome white man in the film's lead role is part of a long history of the mainstream gay rights movement ignoring trans issues and the concerns of people of color in favor of causes like marriage equality and the repeal of "don’t ask, don’t tell."

Say what you will, agree to disagree, but that last paragraph is a very difficult point to argue. This what they've done in the past and I've never yet seen a case where history didn't repeat itself.

Grindr Bots and STDs

This is all a novelty to me because I know nothing at all about Grindr. I've never been there and don't see myself going there any time in the near future.

However, those who do use Grindr in the UK are fuming because these alleged spambots catfished them and infected their phones with STDs.

Several men have reported falling victim to the spambots, which have been preying on users in the U.K. The bots are designed to strike up a conversation. Once they’ve engaged a user by talking about their “really nice dicks,” they try to lure them into clicking on a link to a fake webcam site, which then installs a virus on their device.

“It’s not a natural conversation flow,” one of the victims tells Pink News. “So it seems suspicious, but equally convincing enough to be real.”

And there you are.

You can read more of that here.
