Jussie Smollett's Family's Statement; New York's 2 Competing Pride Parades This Year; RIP: Drag Performer Hattie Hathaway Passes

Jussie Smollett's Family's Statement

As far as I know, the investigation with regard to the Jussie Smollett attack in Chicago is still underway, and his family released a statement today.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, our beloved son and brother, Jussie, was the victim of a violent and unprovoked attack. We want to be clear, this was a racial and homophobic hate crime. Jussie has told the police everything from the very beginning. His story has never changed, and we are hopeful they will find these men and bring them to justice. Our family thanks everyone for their prayers and the huge amount of love he has received.

It's a long, heart-wrenching statement, and you can read the rest of it, here.

New York's 2 Competing Pride Parades This Year

This is pretty big news, especially because this is the 50 year anniversary of the Stonewall riots. A grassroots organization called the Reclaim Pride Coalition (RPC) filed for a permit in NY to host a pride parade that's totally separate from the traditional pride parade that's always been hosted by the more commercial, political, corporate focused Heritage of Pride.

“Eschewing the corporate-saturated, highly policed nature of recent parades, the March is a truly grassroots action that mobilizes the community to address the many social and political battles that continue to be fought locally, nationally, and globally,”

Here's a link to read more. I support RPC completely. There's been an ongoing discussion about how pride events have changed over the years, and not always for the positive.

RIP: Drag Performer Hattie Hathaway Passes

I don't know anything about Hattie Hathaway, aka, Brian Butterick, but apparently Hathaway was a highly well known figure in the East Village of NY.

Beyond making a name as a drag queen, Butterick was also a musician and performer, poet, and club runner.
Butterick worked at the likes of Mudd Club, Mother, and Pyramid. The latter was a prominent queer cabaret and nightclub, of which Butterick eventually became the creative director.
Here's a link. There are a lot more details. Butterick was only 62.
RIP

People Thirsting Over Ted Bundy On Netflix; Russian City Most Tolerant Toward LGBT People; The Jussie Smollett Attack

People Thirsting Over Ted Bundy And Netflix

I saw the Ted Bundy docu-series featured on Netflix last week, and I passed on it. It's just not something I want to watch now or in the future.

There's also a new biopic about Bundy starring, Zac Efron, that I haven't seen either. However, after they dropped the trailer, so many people started posting about how hot Efron looked playing Bundy Netflix put out a statement urging people to refrain from getting too excited over a serial killer.

You can read the rest here. There are comments, too.

Russian City Most Tolerant Toward LGBT People

We hear so many negative stories about Russia and LGBT people, and rightly so, that it's a novelty to see something positive for a change.

There was a survey conducted and it turns out that St. Petersburg is the most tolerant city for LGBT people.

There were only 2 questions asked in the survey.

You can read it all, here. They list a few more cities that followed St. Petersburg. I know a few LGBT people who've traveled to St. Petersburg and they claim they loved it for the art, the architecture, and the history.

The Jussie Smollett Attack

There's been a good deal posted and written about Jessie Smollett this week, in the news and on social media, and here's one that talks about being young, black, and gay that you might not have seen.

Early Tuesday morning, the actor Jussie Smollett was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack—his attackers shouting “MAGA country!” as they ran off. Like white terrorists have done for centuries now, they tied a rope around his neck, as if planning to lynch him, or most likely scare him.

You can read this one, here. I'm sure by tomorrow there will be more news about this.

Rami Malek Tells a Cute Gay Story at SAG Awards; The Straight Couple Who Believe They Invented Poppers; Criminal Investigation of Chechnya

Rami Malek Tells a Cute Gay Story at SAG Awards

Even though Rami Malek, who is straight and played a gay character in a recent film, doesn't know gay stories from personal experience, he told an adorable gay story to a mostly heteronormative crowd at yet another Hollywood red carpet event, the SAG Awards.

Rami played gay Freddie Mercury in the film, Bohemian Rhapsody, and when he was asked, on the Hollywood red carpet, to tell everyone a cute little gay quip about Mercury, this is how he replied:

There was one moment that I hear [Freddie Mercury] took Princess Diana and disguised her as a man and took her into a bar, just so they could have their own fun moment without anybody else being aware. Now, I don’t know if that’s true, this might be an urban legend.

Well, it doesn't get any better than that. I didn't even know that Princess Diana dressed up in gay face.

Here's the rest of this gem

The Straight Couple Who Believe They Invented Poppers

I never watch Shark Tank, but I have heard of it.

There's a straight couple who recently went on Shark Tank with their new invention called 'Boom Boom.' It's a nasal inhaler that leaves you feeling 'tingly and alive.' I'm not joking.

And it gets even better...

The episode actually aired back in October, but it recently went viral after a gay man shared the clip on Twitter along with the caption: “Did Shark Tank Do Poppers???”

Here's the link to the article and the video. You have to see this video. This is priceless.

Sidenote: If you don't know what poppers are, here's a link for that. For many it's always been a huge part of gay culture. Not all, but many. And I say that from personal experience.

Criminal Investigation of Chechnya

On a much more somber note, this story made the rounds today.

LGBTI activists are now calling for a full criminal investigation with regard to what's been happening to LGBTI people there. I've been posting about the reports of LGBTI people allegedly being tortured and detained for a long time now.

It's a Russian activist group called, LGBT Network.

Igor Kochetkov, Executive Director of the LGBT Network, submitted the complaint to the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Here's the link.

The Guy Who Went From Jock To Bear; Did A Straight Man Rip Off Rent From a Lesbian Novel?; 21 Photos of London's Winter Pride

The Guy Who Went From Jock To Bear

I posted about this one before, but it continues to get attention on social media.

It's about the guy who had a slim, toned body with defined muscles, who decided to change his entire image and become a bear.

To do this, he deliberately gained over 100 pounds.

Here's the link, with photos of his transition. There are over 66 comments with this one.

Did a Straight Man Rip Off 'Rent' From a Lesbian Novel?

I want to make it clear I'm only linking to this story. No comments or opinions from me. This is the first I've heard about this.

While Rent was airing live on Fox TV last night, people started tweeting things like this...

But because RENT was stolen from a queer woman's life and work (Sarah Schulman's PEOPLE IN TROUBLE),

The excerpt above is part of a tweet you can read in full, here.  There are more Tweets like it, too.

It goes into a lot more detail.

21 Photos of London's Winter Pride

On a much more refreshing note, here's a link to an article about London's Winter Pride.

The event is for a good cause as well. It raises money to help LGBTI people who are being persecuted in Chechnya.

It's is also the first big event of the year in the western world.

Here's the link. The photos are excellent, and all totally SFW.

9 Dirty Filthy Sex Stories; He Wanted a 'Truncheon' in His Pants; Gay Club Promoters Trash Talking Patrons

9 Dirty Filthy Sex Stories

Chase of a Dream: UNABRIDGED Version (Chase Series Book 2)When I self-censored my book, Chase of a Dream, and I eliminated the sex scenes, I did it for a reason. I wanted to show the know-it-alls that it can be done. In other words, in any erotic romance it's the story that's always the main focus, and the love/sex scenes move the story forward. However, if the sex scenes are removed the story should still stand on its own. And that's why I released an abridged version and an unabridged version of Chase of a Dream. I didn't do that because I support the theory that sex in books is terrible, and I have no time for those elitists who do.

Even though I could do this with every single novel I've ever written...over 100 by now...I don't intend to ever self-censor again unless I have a valid reason. I do have more than a few gay romance novels without sex. The stories didn't call for it. But every single case is different, and the author has to have a feeling for it, one way or the other.

With that said, I see nothing wrong with a few harmless little dirty sex stories either. I'm talking about stories that focus mainly on the sex. Especially if they're very dirty. I applaud them and I support them. It's total escapism, and it's really the safest sex there is out there. So that's why I'm linking to this web site right now. The author of the web site claims these are stories that help her get by when her boyfriend isn't around.

You can check this out, here. It's totally discreet and well executed, too. And it's simple to navigate.

He Wanted a 'Truncheon' in His Pants

Here's an article about penis enlargement. Many men are interested in the topic, and some are actually doing something about it thanks to new advances in medicine.

“These are the men who come to us,” Raheem says. “They are not necessarily small, but they want to feel more confident. In front of women, yes, but in front of other men, too, down the gym, that sort of thing.”

Here's a link to this one. It's an interesting read, and it also mentions some of the downfalls and risks involved...both emotional and physical.

Gay Club Promoters Trash Talking Patrons

This is one of those things you don't expect to see nowadays.

According to this article, one of those circuit parties in Australia allegedly has a photography brief with guidelines about who shouldn't be highlighted in their online promotional photos. In other words, the people they don't want you to see.

“messy boys”, “skinny boys”, “boys with bad skin”, and all women.

Here's the link to more. The comments are few, but they're very interesting.
