Florida: DeSantis Appointee to Disney Allegedly Suggests Tap Water Turns People Gay, Ryan Field Books

Florida: DeSantis Appointee to Disney Allegedly Suggests Tap Water Turns People Gay

Just when you think it can't get any worse in Florida, you read something like this.

DeSantis has appointed someone to the new Disney Over Sight Board and this appointee allegedly claims that being gay is not only evil but that tap water can turn people gay.

Ron Peri is one of those Christian pastors and the CEO of The Gathering. The Gathering is a Christian outreach group for men. I can only imagine what goes on there. He is now one of five people to oversee the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The goal is to remove Disney's power because Disney allegedly criticized the DeSantis don't say gay bill.

This is just one of Peri's comments.

“So why are there homosexuals today? There are any number of reasons, you know, that are given. Some would say the increase in estrogen in our societies. You know, there’s estrogen in the water from birth control pills. They can’t get it out,” Peri baselessly said in a January 2022 Zoom discussion, later put on YouTube.

Here's more. He simply can't admit that there have always been gay people and that we are simply born that way. They go into far more detail about Peris and gays, Disney, this new board, and DeSantis. It's going to be interesting to see if Disney retaliates...or rather when they retaliate.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

She was Kicked Out of an All Girls School in the 70s for Being Gay, Ryan Field Books

She was Kicked Out of an All Girls School in the 70s for Being Gay

I remember when I was in high school someone started a rumor about one of the girls being gay and those straight kids tortured her. She was slightly overweight, had very dark hair, and had very bushy black eyebrows. They called her names, stepped on her lunches, and refused to even sit next to her. And that was just the tip of it. No one else could really do anything because those of us who were gay were in the closet and no one wanted those nasty straight kids coming after them. Eventually, this girl disappeared. I believe she was transferred to another school.

And this story that I'm linking to right now reminds me of that girl in my own high school. It's a piece from the Philadelphia Inquirer about a girl who was kicked out of her all girls high school for being gay.

They said she was a bad moral influence, said she was causing controversial political views, and claimed she was endangering the other girls. Ultimately, she was expelled and in her own words became a "family scandal." Her family ultimately decided to lock her up and put her through conversion therapy.

You can read more about what it was like for gay women back then, and in many ways not all that much has changed.

With Joy Reid Trending On Twitter I'm Revisiting Her Former Alleged Anti-LGBTQ Content, Ryan Field Books

With Joy Reid Trending On Twitter I'm Revisiting Her Former Alleged Anti-LGBTQ Content

I'm not offering any opinions or comments here. I like to give the benefit of the doubt to everyone. And it's not my place to judge. I'm beginning to learn there is calm in objectivity. So here are the facts.

About 12 years ago, Joy Reid allegedly wrote anti-LGBTQ comments in a series of blog posts. Allegedly being the key word.

According to this source, the blog posts were about Florida's then Governor, Charlie Crist. Reid allegedly mocked him by calling him "Miss Charlie," along with anti-gay stereotypes. Also fact.

Then Reid apologized.

In her apology, Reid insisted that she has some gay friends (“The LGBT community includes people whom I deeply love”) and that her writings were “insensitive, tone deaf and dumb.”

And then someone found Reid's old anti-gay Tweets about Crist and the whole thing started all over again...allegedly. Even though she removed her blog from the Internet, we all know that whenever something is printed online it never goes away. They go on to mention more homophobic Tweets not just about Crist that someone found through the "Wayback Machine."

Reid denied she ever wrote the tweets and claimed she had been hacked.

You can read the rest here. They go into a lot more detail.

Philadelphia Flyer Ivan Provorov Boycotts Pride Event, Ryan Field Books

Philadelphia Flyer Ivan Provorov Boycotts Pride Event

In all fairness, I have to admit that I have never been to a Pride event. I've seen them happening where I live, and it's not that I don't support them. Like many gay men who are out, I just never felt the need to go to one. And I think that's partly because I only identify as a gay man and I'm not thrilled with what Pride has become.

And this has nothing at all to do with the LGBTQ community. From what I have seen in the past 20 years or so, straights have been taking over Pride events and profiting big time. In New Hope, PA, alone, I remember all the straight businesses hanging Pride and rainbow items outside their shops so they could exploit us to the fullest, and when Pride was over, all that Pride swag went back inside for another year.

So I think Pride has become something different, and I'm not always fond of the direction it's going.

With that said, this move to boycott Pride by Ivan Provorov appears to be a blatant slap in the face to LGBTQ people. It looks as though it's because of his Russian religion, but you have to look deeper. He didn't have to announce it aloud. He could have slipped quietly away and disappeared and no one would have known. Let's face it, a good many of us don't know who he is, nor do we care. But he decided to make a point, and it's loud and clear.

When I saw this trending the other day on Twitter I also saw so many homophobic comments it was hard to keep track. The homophobic straights were saying things like, "why do they have to shove Pride down our throats?" Or, "they want us all to be gay." Well, that's only the way it appears because the media creates this image. The truth is that we really don't care whether or not you go to Pride, whether you support Pride, or whether or not some dumb hockey player decides to boycott Pride for his Russian religions reasons. We all know what Russia does to gay people anyway, and I guess this guy supports that, too. But in truth, we really don't care what they think.

In fact, most gay men like me aren't too thrilled with Pride events ourselves, but for very different reasons. Here's where you can read the article. He really does come off as not too bright. There's a photo of him with his big mouth half hanging open and you just have to wonder if he's ever read a book from cover to cover.

Dave Bautista Covers Up Tattoo Associated with his Homophobic Friend,

Dave Bautista Covers up Tattoo Associated with his Homophobic Friend

I have just gained a new respect for actor, Dave Bautista. He recently had one of his tattoos covered up because of a homophobic ex-friend.

Although Bautista doesn't actually name this friend, he does discuss the fact that he has a lesbian mom and that he has no tolerance for homophobia or people who make homophobic comments.

There is speculation about who the friend might be, which you can read at the link, below. But it's all alleged right now and I hate to point fingers without more facts.

For me, the fact that Bautista made this gesture is worth more than anything in the world. This is the kind of true ally we need. And I applaud him.

Here's the rest. There are photos of the tattoo.

The Gay World War and Putin's Warped Mind, Ryan Field Books

The Gay World War and Putin's Warped Mind

Here's more on Putin and what's happening in Russia to gay people. Now there are more homophobic amendments that will ban anything related to gay relationship.

The author of the article seems to find it ironic that while Russia is still engaged in the war they started with Ukraine they also have time to focus on homophobic laws.

The article then mentions some weird Russian scientist who wants to create genetically modified people who will be used to serve the most elite...they'll be slaves. He also believes that gay people are trying to indoctrinate people into same sex marriage so they can't multiply. And that makes absolute no sense because many gay couples I know either have kids or they are planning to have kids through surrogates. My own gay nephew wants kids.

Here's more. They get into even more deep dark conspiracy theories that no one can prove or disprove. It's interesting but very odd.
