Logan Moore On Doing Gay Porn; Adam Rippon In the Smithsonian; LGBT Choir Sings We Are Family In At Protest

Logan Moore On Doing Gay Porn

I enjoy reading about gay porn stars, and I like when they're candid, especially in this day and age in the New Victorian Era of purity.

Dutch gay porn star Logan Moore says as an LGBTI adult entertainer, you have to come out twice – and you never know what the reaction is going to be like.

Here's the rest. It's a nice piece about coming out.

Adam Rippon In the Smithsonian

This has been making the rounds all week.

The 28-year-old skater, who became the first out gay U.S. male athlete to win a medal in a Winter Olympics when he took home the Bronze at this year’s Games in South Korea, has donated his Olympic costume and skates to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

You can check that out, here. Some of the comments are a little snarky, though. But that's the Internet and we expect that. I follow Rippon on Twitter and I love reading his tweets.

LGBT Choir Sings We Are Family In At Protest

It's sad that we still have to protest things like this.

An LGBT+ choir has staged a protest outside the Catholic World Meeting of Families, where they sang “We Are Family” and “Something Inside So Strong” in response to the exclusion of LGBT+ people from the event.

Here's the link. When are people going to realize that LGBT people can be religious, too. And how can you deny anyone the right to practice their religion? These are good, decent people.

The Straight Actors Playing Gay Roles Debate Continues; RuPaul's Drag Race At Emmys; Security Breach At Grindr

The Straight Actors Playing Gay Roles Debate Continues

As I've been predicting,  this debate is not going to disappear any time soon.

So without getting into my own long rant, I totally disagree with this guy, simply based on the fact that it's not fair or balanced for LGBTQ people in Hollywood...or anywhere.

“At first I was a bit disappointed. I thought, ‘Why are they casting a straight character in a gay role?’ But then I had to look at myself. I’m a gay man playing heterosexual [characters]. I thought, ‘Hang on, I can’t really join in this debate.’

You can read more here. I have a surprise of my own on this topic that I'll be able to talk about more in the next month or so.

RuPaul's Drag Race At Emmys

I didn't watch the Emmys this year, but I do find this interesting. And that's because even though I'm openly gay I don't know much about drag culture or RuPaul.

If there was any confusion about RuPaul‘s Drag Race hitting the mainstream (there wasn’t), it was squarely put to rest Monday night at the 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, where the show picked up an unprecedented five wins.

Here's more.

Security Breach At Grindr

Here's another Grindr story.

Grindr’s security issues are once again in the spotlight as a third party app pinpointed users’ exact location.
Despite constant reassurances from the app about the difficulties of exploiting their location technology, the latest security breach revealed how malicious parties can locate users.

You can read the rest, here.

Fans See Batman's Penis; Cher On Dating Tom Cruise; Terry Crew's Apology Letter From Agent Who Allegedly Groped Him; Your Next Vacation In Saskatoon;

Fans See Batman's Penis

I'm sure Batman fans never thought they'd see anything like this.

The Dark Knight’s sculpted physique is clearly visible, as is his penis, hanging right against one of his sizeable thighs, below his chiselled torso, with the faintest outline of a scrotum behind the hero’s member.

Here's more. There's an animated image, and I think it's SFW.

Cher On Dating Tom Cruise

Cher rarely opens up about her personal life so this is unusual.

Cher first met Tom at Madonna and Sean Penn’s Malibu wedding in 1985. ‘Then a bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic,’ says Cher. ‘We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there.’

You can read it all at this link.

Terry Crews's Apology Letter From Agent Who Allegedly Groped Him

Here's something about men who deal with sexual abuse. You don't see that often because men rarely talk about it, but it does happen often. And the abusers of men could be male or female. Yes. Woman abuse men, too. I know how that works personally.

Terry Crews has posted an apology letter from the Hollywood agent who he says groped him, nearly a year after Crews initially shared his story.

You can read the whole thing, here, including the letter from the nameless agent.

Your Next Gay Vacation In Saskatoon

I'm not joking about this. And I think I might be interested in going to Saskatoon. I tend to like travelling more than vacationing. I'm not much of a tourist, I can't stand places like Disney World, but I love learning about different cultures. So I'll definitely keep this in mind. According to this link Saskatoon is also very gay friendly.

The South Saskatchewan River runs throughout the center of Saskatoon, and you actually can traverse the city by canoe, kayak, paddleboard or even riverboat. Urban attractions like the new world-class Remai Modern Art Museum and its most comprehensive collection of Picasso linocuts thrive alongside oaked gin at Black Fox Farm & Distillery. Canada’s breadbasket provides for a fabulous culinary experience.

Here's a link to more. Now I just have to talk Tony into going to Saskatoon.

The Men of Bigger,The Movie; The Bert and Ernie Debate Continues; Grindr and Oklahoma House of Horrors

The Men of Bigger, The Movie

I hadn't heard about this one until now.

Bigger, which costars Teen Wolf alum Tyler Hoechlin (Joe Weider) and Colton Haynes (Jack LaLanne), tells the story of how brothers Joe and Ben built an empire around the male physique.

You can check it out, here. There's a trailer.

The Bert and Ernie Debate Continues

Make no mistake, this goes a lot deeper than just Bert and Ernie. And if you think this is just about 2 puppets, I suggest you read the article in full.

I love this statement because it's what I've been trying to show throughout my entire career as a gay author.

As a final thought on the unexpected hysteria over our interview with Saltzman, we offer up this postulation: Bert & Ernie have sex as much as Kermit and Piggy. As with the battle over marriage equality, anti-queer haters still can’t seem to understand that being gay isn’t just about sex, it’s about love—who we’re drawn to, who we want to build a life with, who we want to have in our home.

Here's more. It's not just anti-queer haters who do this, I've seen very liberal people do it, too. And they'll tell you about how right they are even when they get it wrong.

Grindr and Oklahoma House of Horrors

Here's another disturbing story involving the dating app, Grindr.

Police in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma released body cam footage of the place robbers lured men to via the dating app Grindr.
It’s being described as a ‘house of horrors’, according to local news station KFOR. They have the footage as well.
Here's more. The police are issuing warnings to all people who use dating apps. Frankly, I can't imagine why I would ever go to a place like the one in the photo with this link. That place alone sends up a red flag.

Bert and Ernie's Gay Liberation; Tennessee Williams Created A Gay Hot Spot; Catholic Priest Burns Pride Flag

Bert and Ernie's Gay Liberation

If you ever want to see straight people go berserk just suggest that one of their favorite heteronormative characters might be gay. It happens with liberals and conservatives. I've see it before here on this blog when I wrote a post about Richard Burton being gay, and I've seen it in reviews for heteronormative books I've parodied with gay characters. But the most interesting thing is the way even the most liberal straight people do not understand what it is to be gay.

There was a story trending all week about the Sesame Street characters, Bert and Ernie, being gay and the comments that were made by a gay staff writer named Mark Saltzman, in an interview. Almost immediately after the interview went live the Sesame Street team sent out a very stern tweet stating, clearly, that Bert and Ernie are not gay.

Then Frank Oz, the Muppets creator, issued his own statement with some of the most classic heteronormative comments about what it is to be gay. It's interesting because he doesn't have the slightest clue about what it's like to be gay, or to grow up gay in a heteronormative world. Yet he takes it upon himself to explain it to gay people as if he's the authority. That's privilege.

Frank Oz’s own lack of understanding in his Tweet sounds intensely liberal and well-meaning (and he gamely conversed with detractors on Twitter). “But why that question? Does it really matter?” Well, yes it does when all around you at home, school, and on TV and film is assumed straight; where heterosexuality is the im mediate default.

You can read the rest here. I highly recommend it.

Tennessee Williams Created A Gay Hot Spot

I think everyone knows who Tennessee Williams is.

In 1964, a gay man inadvertently helped turn a tiny Mexican fishing village called Puerta Vallartainto one of the world’s premier vacation destinations for gay and straight people alike.

Here's more. It's very true, too. I have several older gay friends who only spend the winter months in Puerta Vallarta. And I have another friend who just moved there full time.

Catholic Priest Burns Pride Flag

This priest was ordered not to burn the pride flag, but he did it anyway.

Kalchik, who joined the Resurrection Catholic Church in 2007, led parishoners in a prayer of exorcism on Friday. That’s when he burned the flag in a portable fire pit in a schoolyard next to the church.

Here's the rest. I hope they get him evaluated. That's not normal.

Call It By Its Name: US Senator Sentenced, For Sex With 17 Year Old Boy; Grinder Deals with Racism Again; Kirstie Alley, and John Travolta's Gay Rumors

Call It By Its Name: US Senator Sentenced, For Sex With 17 Year Old Boy

This is wrong, on all levels. Just plain wrong. There's no way to logically justify sex with a 17 year old boy.

Shortey was caught with a 17-year-old male teen in a motel last March. An investigation revealed Shortey offered the boy, who he referred to as ‘baby boy’ in messages, money in exchange for ‘sexual stuff’.

Here's the rest. There is no way to defend this kind of predatory behavior with a 17 year old either.

Grindr Deals with Racism Again

One of these days I'm going to have to get my own Grindr app to find out what's going on over there. I'm totally clueless about Grindr.

This new initiative, known as “Kindr,” kicked off with the first in a series of videos this week. In it, former Queer Eye host Jai Rodriguez leads a chorus of Grindr users describing the racist or shaming rhetoric they’ve encountered while using the app.

Here's more. I don't understand the shaming or the racism. They're supposed to be hooking up with people, not tearing them down.

Kirstie Alley, and John Travolta's Gay Rumors

I've seen this trending all week and it's been bothering me. Whenever someone...anyone...has to shout out that someone else is NOT gay in a defensive way, they are feeding into the mind set that there's something wrong with being gay in the first place. They're promoting shame.

With that said, this is really odd.

“No I don’t [think he is gay]. I mean, I know him pretty well — and I know the love…” she said before opening up about how the two fell in love but were never physical, as she would never cheat on her then-husband Parker Stevenson, whom she divorced in 1997.

Here's more. And for those of you who say, "it shouldn't matter," or, "it doesn't matter," let me explain something simple to you. In a perfect world that would work just fine. But we're not living in a perfect world without labels, and the odds are we probably never will.

Nico Tortorella's Big Announcement; New LGBTQ Wedding Destination; Anne Hathaway's Message To Young Trans Girl

Nico Tortorella's Big Announcement

Nico has a new book coming out.

“It’s called Love Y’all,” the sexually fluid actor/podcaster/poet tells GMA News Online. “It’s a narrative-memoir hybrid. Much bigger book. Not poetry. Non-fiction.”

Here's more. His first book was poetry. I love the fact that he's doing it in the first place.

New LGBTQ Wedding Destination

This is interesting. In fact, Tony's dad just told us that he's planning a trip to Cuba this winter.

Cuba continued its push out of its era of Soviet, totalitarian rule this week when President Miguel Diaz-Canel stunned the world by endorsing marriage equality.

Here's the rest. I've always wanted to go there.

Anne Hathaway's Message To Young Trans Girl

This is definitely tear-worthy. And I love how it's making news more often in the mainstream. It's happening slowly, but at least it's moving forward for trans people.

Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway brought attendees of a charity gala to tears this weekend as she sent a heartfelt message to a 10-year-old transgender girl named Ella.
Hathaway was responding to a letter from the girl who had named herself after Hathaway’s character in Ella Enchanted.

You can read the rest here.
