I've seen this myself on Twitter.
Ellen DeGeneres got caught up in all kinds of controversy recently when she announced that she'd forgiven Kevin Hart for his past homophobic comments, and that she wants him to host the Oscars now. In case you don't recall, Hart gave up hosting the Oscars after the homophobic comments surfaced.
Things were especially bad for Ellen on Twitter. And, they got even worse after Ellen called people "haters" for not forgiving Hart. That's interesting in itself when you think about it. Hart made the homophobic comments, and those who don't support it are now "haters."
You can read about it all, here. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. It's happened many times. I remember when Roland Martin made homophobic comments and no one forgave him.
Two Gay Men Beaten and Tortured in Chile
Here's more dismal news from the global front.
There have been two unrelated attacks in small Chilean towns that are being treated as hate crimes against gay men.
One of the victims is still in critical condition after suffering burns in an extremely hot tub, and the other was tortured with cigarettes and rocks.
Here's the rest. They're saying that Chile does, at least, have legal protections in place for LGBT people who've experience hate crimes.
UK City's New Sex Education Lessons
Even though there are still a lot people who won't understand this, it's step forward for trans rights.
One of the things they'll be teaching is that trans men get their periods.
‘Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods,’ a council report stated. ‘Menstruation must be inclusive of all genders.’
I have a feeling this is going to take a while to catch on, but I do think it will eventually. One of the things about trans people that always amazes me is that so many people in the mainstream only think there are trans women. They never even stop to consider trans men.
