I've said before I don't know who I'm voting for in this election yet. But I post things like this because I think it's interesting how some presses will slam a candidate that they hate, offer their vicious opinions, and yet be the first to scream "hater" when someone else slams or shames a candidate they love.
In this case we're talking about an article that suggests old time actress, Lily Tomlin, doesn't like Donald Trump...because, I guess, Trump resembles that old time character in the old time movie I never saw, Nine to Five.
We can add Lily Tomlin and wife Jane Wagner to the ever-increasing number of Americans who are horrified at the prospect of living in a country overseen by President Donald Trump (it even hurts to type those words). The two funny ladies revised a scene from the classic comedy Nine to Five in which put-upon secretaries (Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton) dispose of their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” of a boss played by Dabney Coleman, and posted it on their shared Facebook page. It offers the perfect way to reflect on some of the myriad problems with Trump and a fine way to remedy them.
As I said, I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet. It's just too soon for swing voters like me to predict. But I think one of the things that turns most swing voters off in any direction is when any political candidate on any side of the fence gets slammed this way. It just doesn't work anymore. I think voters are more interested in facts and issues than slamming and shaming.
And from what I read in the comments, at least some people agree with me.
Most Hateful Homophobic Cities
This one will make you wonder...unless you take these things seriously. I hope you don't, though. It's a list of the most homophobic cities in the US, and it's based on, get this, Twitter. Yes. Twitter. That place where profile photos are fake, Kardashians beg for exposure, people have multiple sock puppet accounts, and most people don't even use their real names. And, they buy followers by the thousands.
In any event...
The folks at Adobo.com, a site that helps perspective tenants find apartments, pored over 12 million tweets written between June 2014 and December 2015. They looked for tweets that contained slurs and other derogatory language against LGBT people, as well as several other minority groups. The slurs searched for included “fag,” “faggot,” “homo,” “dyke,” “sodomite,” and “lesbo,” among others.
You can read all about this fiction here. I think the comments say a lot this time.
Gay Flight Attendant Accused of Starting AIDS
I remember reading about this gay flight attendant, Gaetan Dugas, who allegedly started the AIDS virus because he was so promiscuous in the 1970s. The theory never really made much sense to me, and it's been bothering me ever since I read it.
Well, this is being disputed now...finally.
Dugas’ particular virus looks very different from versions of the virus that started circulating in the U.S. as early as 1970. Molecularly, Dugas’ virus looks much more like versions that were circulating much later on — and that the earliest versions of the virus in the U.S. are similar to those from Haiti.
This suggests that the first case(s) of HIV in the U.S. likely were from people who’d recently visited or come from that Haiti or nearby.
More than 30 years after Dugas’ death, this news is a sort of acquittal for a man who’d long been pinned as such a promiscuous sexual super-predator that he managed to seed HIV across the nation.

All these years later!
