More Ben Affleck; Gay Orgy Sculpture; Kirk Cameron Gay Marriage

More Ben Affleck

When I posted about Affleck last week the article to which I linked wasn't as in-depth as it could have been, so here's more about the notorious Vegas card counting kerfuffle and a few facts that most headlines seem to ignore. One of which is that Affleck was not banned from the casino for good. According to them, he's welcome at any time and they still love him.

An earlier story by celebrity news outlet TMZ.com said Affleck had been banned for life from the casino for counting cards, a method of using probability to predict the next hand.

But the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino disputed claims he has been banned from the venue in a statement, Fox News has reported.

"Mr. Affleck, a valued guest of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time," it said.

I don't know why I smell a rat. Maybe it's my conspiracy paranoia kicking in again from watching too many authors game the system. But this all just seems so "out there" to me. First, I've known card counters and Affleck doesn't fit the profile...or at least he doesn't seem to fit the profile. Second, the card counter type is usually doing something else that's not quite above board. It's a lifestyle that takes time to mold and build. Affleck always seemed so painfully heteronormative to me. And he's so politically outspoken to the point of self-righteous. But I could be wrong about all this, and maybe there is another side to Affleck.

It is interesting to note that Affleck was in Vegas during this alleged card counting deal taking a break between films, on his way to begin shooting the new Superman film. Remember that controversy when it was first announced that Affleck would be in the film? No one was very thrilled about that.

In any event, you can read more here about Affleck's new rough and tough guy image as the Vegas card counter. Two years from now I wouldn't be surprised to see Affleck walking on water if he were to snag a film role playing the Pope.

You have to love Hollywood and all that it doesn't stand for.

Gay Orgy Sculpture

I'm not quite sure I understand this article either. It's even more outrageous than Affleck as a card counter. There's this unusual sculpture in Michigan titled, Human Blue Condition. (It's not something I would want in front of my home...from a purely subjective critical POV.) The creepy looking figures in the sculpture are clearly sexless, in a non-sexual situation, without any genitals showing at all. But some residents of this town, including a pastor, Rick Strawcutter, claim it offends them because they think it looks like a gay orgy. They don't say it offends them because it's buck ugly art (think classic Grey Alien), which I find interesting. Of course there's more to this story, and it involves politics and equal rights for gays.

Strawcutter uploaded a video to YouTube to vent his anger about such a sculpture being on public display.

In the video, entitled ‘Adrian City Commission Is Leading Us to Sodom’, he not only attacks the sculpture, but also attacks the city commission for voting in favour of equal rights for LGBT people, who he says are ‘an abomination.’

The figures are sexless and are all leaning on or supporting one another but Strawcutter assumes they are all men and engaged in various forms of sex acts. ‘Everyone I know who sees this just feels like it is in itself an abomination’ he said.

Making various references to Sodom and Gomorrah, the Bible and God he also attacked what he called ‘the gay agenda.’

‘The vast majority of people in this community, as in most communities, do not support the gay agenda’ he said.

In order to appease these people, the hideous nightmare of a sculpture was moved to another less visible place.

You can read more here, and see a photo of the sculpture. My only comment is that if these people think that's a gay orgy they have very dirty minds. They are also highly unfamiliar with the male physique.

Kirk Cameron on Gay Marriage

This is interesting because for the first time ever a "Christian" is stating that other "Christians" should be concentrating more on their own wicked ways of adultery and fornication instead of worrying so much about stopping gay marriage. It's Kirk Cameron, child sitcom star who turned born again "Christian" a while back. I'm putting "Christian" in quotes in certain places because gay people can be Christian, too. I'm Christian and I often find it highly insulting when these so-called US born-agains don't seem to think gays can actually be Christians. The American right wing does NOT own Christianity. In fact, they're all the newest Christians on the proverbial block. We have cars in the US that are older than some of these "Christian" start up churches.

Cameron said the issue of sex before and outside of marriage should be where Christians should be concentrating, ahead of a trip to Alabama where he plans to hold a series of marriage seminars.

‘When people get too focused on redefining marriage, you're distracted from the bigger problem - fornicators and adulterers,' Cameron told AL.com.

‘If the people sitting in the pews are fornicators and adulterers, the church will destroy marriages much more quickly than those outside the church.

When God's people mock marriage, God doesn't take that lightly.’

Aside from the fact that Cameron sounds as if he's reading lines from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, I wonder how much Cameron is getting paid to do these seminars. You never see that disclosed. Like Hillary Clinton speaking to people on the topic of income inequality and ironically making upwards of $200,000 per speech at the same time, I have a feeling the aging child actor, Kirk Cameron, has found something quite lucrative this time. These preachers are NOT poor people. And there are way too many trusting people who are willing to be parted with their money way too soon.

There's more here.
